On today’s schedule—The Best Dressed Animal Contest at 4:30, and the Showman of Showmen Contest at 5. The Rough Truck Competition is tonight’s grandstand entertainment. It begins at 6:30.
Tomorrow will mark the end of the Huron County Fair.
Things will get underway at 7am, with the annual Rooster Crowing Contest. The Large Livestock Auction will begin at 9am. The annual closer, the demolition derby, will start at 6.

Beverly Sargent and Leland (Jeff) Ellis were crowned during yesterday’s senior royalty festivities. They live at Hillside Acres.
Huron County Fair Board President Bob Morgan says he’s pleased with how things have gone this week.
He also said good weather has been key to a successful week. Yesterday’s fair attendance was 8,858. That includes 1,763 seniors who each paid a penny to get in. So far this week’s paid attendance has topped 31,000.
By a slim margin, workers at Freudenberg-NOK in Milan have voted to unionize.
Yesterday’s unofficial tally was 103-to-97. However, nearly a dozen votes are being challenged. If the decision stands, Freudenberg workers will be represented by the UAW.
No change in Ohio’s unemployment rate.

Ohio prison officials are working on a new plan for executions.
A change is necessary because the drug used to execute death row inmates has been put off-limits by the manufacturer. The state’s remaining supply of the drug expires in September. The new plan is expected to be in place by October. Officials are considering fans using a different combination of lethal drugs. A return to the electric chair or the use of other forms of execution is not expected.

The Cleveland Browns are 2-0 so far this preseason. Last night, the Browns topped Detroit, 24-6. They also lost a few players to various injuries.
The Indians are in Oakland for a three-game series against the A’s, 10:05 tonight, 9:05 tomorrow and 4:05 on Sunday. You can hear all three games on 95.3 WLKR.
