Highway Patrol Troopers from Milan and Elyria receive Awards
Trooper Stephen Vanderford of the Milan Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol has received the ‘Criminal Patrol’ award for excellence in felony enforcement. He’ll receive a certificate and uniform ribbon. Trooper Juan Santiago of the Elyria Post also received the ‘Criminal Patrol’ award.

Woman from Elyria wins Gold at Olympics
Elyria native Tianna Bartoletta has won a gold medal in the long jump at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio. Four years ago, she also won gold as part of the 400-meter relay team.
Huron County Fairgrounds to host Pesticide-Disposal event later this Month
Farmers wishing to rid themselves of unwanted pesticides are invited to drop them off August 31st at the Huron County Fairgrounds in Norwalk. The Ohio Department of Agriculture will host the event. The pesticide collection and disposal-service is free of charge, but only farm-chemicals will be accepted, with no paint, anti-freeze or solvents allowed.
State-owned Vehicle Auction taking place Saturday in Columbus
Nearly 300 state-owned vehicles are going on the auction-block in Columbus on Saturday, the most in 10 years. Many of them are high-mileage, some need major repair, and all are sold, ‘as-is’. You can check out the entries at the website for the Ohio Department of Administrative Services.
