Lorain woman charged with Murder of disabled man

A Lorain woman has been charged with the murder of a disabled man who required an oxygen machine to live. 46 year-old Michele Noble has been charged with murder, tampering with evidence and obstructing official business. 53 year-old John Whitfield was found dead in his Lorain home around 10:00 am Tuesday.

 

Elyria man perishes in Wellington cycle crash

Police in Wellington believe, a medical issue resulted in a motorcycle crash on Jones Road. Charles Proctor of Elyria was killed.  He was 58.  So far there’s no official word on the cause of death.

 

Norwalk ‘Stuff the Bus’ supply collection to take place tomorrow

A school supply collection event will happen tomorrow to help benefit Norwalk City School students.  Unused school supplies such as pens, paper, and crayons can be dropped off from 7:30 am to 4:00 pm at the Norwalk Board of Education Office on Benedict Avenue.  The supplies will be distributed to those who registered on Wednesday (August 10th) of next week from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at the Salvation Army in Norwalk.

Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine is offering some back-to-school shopping tips for consumers ahead of the sales tax holiday Those tips include: monitoring your credit, checking and savings accounts; understanding return policies before you buy, checking the exclusions and limitations of an offer, keeping your receipts, and watching for scams.

During the sales tax holiday, the following items generally are exempt from sales tax: clothing priced at $75 per item or less, school supplies priced at $20 per item or less and school instructional materials priced at $20 or less.

Former Browns player to spend almost two years in Prison

Former Cleveland Browns wide receiver Reggie Rucker has been sentenced to nearly two years in prison. Rucker had pled ‘guilty’ to stealing more than 100-thousand-dollars from two charities to feed his gambling addiction.

 

Police cars up for auction in Huron next week

If you’re in the market for a used police car, The City of Huron has just what you need. Four police cars will be among the items up-for-auction next Wednesday at The City of Huron’s Service Complex.  Bidding starts at 5:00 pm Wednesday.

As the temperatures and heat rise, so does the consumption of energy to cool the inside of your home.  The Public Utilities Commission of Ohio (PUCO) has some tips to help manage your energy bills, and to help your household stay cool. They include: blocking the heat from the sun by closing windows and curtains, turn the thermostat up when you are away from home, look for an air conditioning unit that is ENERGY STAR approved, and if you use a window air conditioning unit, make sure it fits correctly into the window to reduce the amount of cool air lost.
