Police Officer and EMT recognized for saving woman’s life

Two first responders have been recognized with a Certificate of Merit and Exemplary Service for their role in saving a woman’s life in Bellevue.  Carla Schaffer of the Bellevue PD and EMT Marisa Tuttamore with North Central EMS worked together as Schaffer contacted Tuttamore during an urgent medical call involving a female. Tuttamore responded to help Schaffer on her own personal time, and decided to transport the woman to the Bellevue Hospital in the police cruiser, where medical attention was given to the female.  The woman then received medical care at the hospital, where she was fully resuscitated.

 

Man involved in Elyria to Huron County high speed chase to face 3-years Probation

It’s 3-years-probation for an Elyria man, accused of driving a stolen car, and leading police on a high speed chase from Elyria to Huron County. 20 year-old Taylor Clark had pled ‘guilty’ to several charges, including driving under suspension. Police say, speeds topped 100-miles-an-hour before Clark was eventually arrested on Route 60.

 

Community Drug Overdose Program taking place Thursday

Huron County Public Health (HCPH) will be providing training for Project DAWN (“Deaths Avoided with Naloxone”), a community-based drug overdose education and Naloxone distribution program.  It’s happening Thursday from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at the Huron County Community Library in Willard.  Huron County Public Health asks you to call them and complete an intake form located on their Facebook page and website, before attending.

 

Democratic National Convention continues…

(from CBS News)-For the first time in American history, a woman has been named the presidential nominee of a major political party, as Hilary Clinton officially received the Democratic nomination last night at the DNC. Her husband, former president Bill Clinton, also took to the stage yesterday in Day 2 of the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia. President Barack Obama and VP Joe Biden will speak tonight at the DNC.
