Sandusky Highway Patrol Post investigating Hit-Skip Crash that left one seriously injured

The Sandusky Post of the Highway Patrol is investigating a hit-skip injury crash that occurred around 10:30 pm Sunday night in the city of Sandusky.  The crash took place at the intersection of Camp Street and Pierce Street; sending an international exchange worker to the hospital with life threatening injuries.

19 year-old Zaide Guler Narmanli of Turkey suffered those injuries when she was riding her bicycle northbound on the sidewalk on the east side of Camp Street, when she entered the intersection of Pierce Street and was struck by an eastbound vehicle that fled the scene.  Narmanli was eventually air-lifted to Mercy St. Vincent hospital in Toledo.  The patrol has a possible lead on the second vehicle involved in the crash, but is looking for any and all information regarding the incident.

 

Three-Vehicle Crash claims the lives of two Lorain women

Charges are possible against an Elyria man from a three vehicle crash on Route 113 in Amherst Township that left two people dead.  Troopers say, an SUV driven by 42 year old Matthew Glaze rear-ended a car waiting to turn onto Route 58. There were three women from Lorain in the car.  One was hurt.  Two were killed; 58 year old Iris Candelario and 58 year old Maria Maldonado.

 

Norwalk Independence Day Parade held Monday morning

The 46th annual Norwalk 4th of July parade took place Monday morning.  Sister station Kool Gold 1510 was there broadcasting the event live; which featured 111 entries including marching bands from Norwalk City and Norwalk St. Paul schools and Parade Grand Marshal Scott Ford from The Lefty Grove Baseball Program.  Some of the parade award winners were Fog Horn Designs for Best Commercial Float, Olde Wrestling for Most Unusual, Maplewood Acres for Best Theme, and Huron River Valley Resort won for Best Business Float.

 

 

Sandusky Fire Department has a busy month of May

The City of Sandusky Fire Department reports May as their busiest month of the year so far, as they handled 621 incidents and calls for service, averaging to about 20 incidents per 24-hour shift. Their year-to-date average is 16 incidents on a 24-hour shift.  Their year-to-date total through May is 2,443 incidents with 3,075 responses.

 

Norwalk Music Festival begins Thursday

The 4th edition of the Norwalk Music Festival is this Thursday through Sunday at the Huron County Fairgrounds. The bluegrass music fest begins Thursday night, with live national and local bands throughout the day Friday and Saturday, and a few more on Sunday morning.  Tickets can be purchased at the gate with camping also available for $10 per day.   A complete schedule is online at www.NorwalkMusicFestival.com.
