Elyria man to spend 18-years-to-life for Murder Plea in Fatal Shooting

An Elyria man, one of three involved in a fatal shooting, has been sentenced to 18-years-to-life in prison.  20 year old Terrence Nevins had pled ‘guilty’ to numerous charges, including ‘murder’, in the shooting death of Adam McNeal.Police say, McNeal was shot last year during a drug robbery at the Colonial Oaks Mobile Home Park.  The two other suspects also received 18 years to life.

 

Sonic Restaurant in Sandusky robbed early Monday Morning

Perkins Township Police responded to a call early Monday morning (1:30 am) concerning a robbery at the Sonic Drive-Thru on Milan Road.  A male wearing a mask and orange sweatshirt allegedly told the restaurant manager to put money in a bag in order for things to go smoothly. The suspect was able to take some deposits before getting away. Investigators are already working on a lead, according to The Sandusky Register.

 

Lorain Bank Robbery Suspect has been caught

 Police in Lorain believe, they have their man, the man who robbed First Federal Savings of Lorain on East 42nd.  32 year old Henry Cobb of Apple Avenue is accused of robbing the bank Saturday-morning, then taking off in a stolen car. The robbery was captured in crystal-clear surveillance video.

 

July 4th Safety Tips from Huron County Public Health

Independence Day is less than a week away now, which brings cookouts and many outdoor activities including fireworks.  Huron County Public Health has some tips to help keep you safe this holiday. When it comes to cookouts, the most important thing to remember when preparing food is to keep cold food cold and hot food hot, to help prevent bacteria from multiplying. As for outdoor activities, protect yourself from the sun by using at least a SPF 15 sunscreen, stay hydrated, and wear insect repellent.Also if you plan to use fireworks; some tips to remember include: to make sure to wear safety glasses, light one firework at a time, use fireworks in a clear area, and obey all local laws.

 

Erie County unveils new website for Volunteer Registration

A new website has recently been launched by The Volunteer Center of Erie County, which links volunteers with possible opportunities from non-profit organizations.  The site can be found at http://Erie.Voly.Org.  Agencies and volunteers are encouraged to contact The Volunteer Center of Erie County to create an account. Lorain County is getting Older

Lorain County’s population is getting older, according to data from the U.S. Census Bureau.  The percentage of county residents 19 or younger has dropped over the past 25 years as the population 65 and older has gone up.  The average age of people living in the county has also grown.  In 1990, the average age for a county resident was 32.8 years old, but by 2015, that figure had climbed to 41.3 years old, according to the Census Bureau.  By 2010, Lorain County had an older population than both the rest of the state and country.
