Norwalk Woman Dies in Crash Wednesday on Ohio 2, Baby with Minor Injuries.

 

A 29 year-old Norwalk woman was killed in a one-car accident Wednesday afternoon shortly after 5:00 on Ohio Route 2 between the Huron River bridge and Berlin Road.  The Sandusky Register reports that 29 year-old Angela Hein of Norwalk was driving eastbound on Route 2, where her 1996 Toyota Camry crossed the median and westbound lanes, then crashed, rolled over several times, and she was then ejected from her vehicle. Hein was not wearing a seat belt; this also according to Ohio State Highway Patrol’s Sandusky post commander, Lt. Brett Gockstetter.  A 15-month old, who was fastened in the back seat, was taken with minor injuries to Firelands Regional Medical Center.   The crash remains under investigation.

 

Port Clinton Walleye Festival begins Tonight.

The 2016 Main Street Port Clinton Walleye Festival gets underway this evening and continues through Memorial Day.  The event will feature live entertainment on stage Friday through Monday with a fishing derby on Friday, the Walleye 5K Run/Walk and a parade on Saturday, with a Memorial Day parade on Monday morning.  Hours of the festival are Thursday and Friday from 5:00 to 11:00 pm, Saturday and Sunday from 11:00 am to 11:00 pm, and Memorial Day Monday 11:00 am to 5:00 pm. Erie County Economic Development Corporation announces Award Winners.

Awards were recently handed out by the Erie County Economic Development Corporation (ECEDC) during their annual meeting and ceremony at Kalahari Resort in Sandusky.  The “Business Pioneer” award was given to Nikki Lloyd and Ryan Whaley of the new Kilbourne Hotel in Sandusky, Duffield Milkie of Cedar Fair was The “Visionary Leadership Award” winner, and the Kroger Marketplace in Sandusky received the “Deal of the Year” award.  ECEDC Executive Director Abbey Bemis said that Erie County had $50 million invested into business facilities in 2015.

 

 

Ohio Bike Week events begins Friday in Sandusky.

Ohio Bike Week officially gets underway tomorrow afternoon in Sandusky with activities continuing every day through Sunday, June 5th.  The event features themed rides and plenty of live concerts with 80’s rocker Eddie Money on Saturday, country music duo Montgomery Gentry next Friday June 3rd, and Pop Evil on Saturday, June 4th, just to name a few.  Ohio Bike Week touts itself as “The Midwest’s Largest Motorcycle event” with over 250,000 cycle fans involved in last year’s event.

 

State lawmakers have approved a bill to legalize medical marijuana in vapor-form for certain health conditions.

The bill now heads to Governor John Kasich, but it’s not clear whether he’ll get on board. Passage comes as supporters of medical marijuana in various forms are pushing for a vote on a constitutional amendment in November.
