Tomorrow is Election Day.

The polls will be open between 6:30am and 7:30pm. We’ll have results online tomorrow night. Simply go to our Facebook page, 95.3 WLKR and K96.

 

Today marks 45 years, since the May 4th shootings at Kent State University.

Four students were killed, and nine others were injured by gunfire from Ohio National Guardsmen. Those students, and many others were protesting the Vietnam War.

 

Authorities are looking for the person or persons who purposely set yesterday’s fire near the Huron Pier.

Huron firefighters intended to use the space today for a controlled burn, but yesterday afternoon, someone entered an unauthorized area near the Huron North Main Pier, and set the fire. Black smoke could be seen for miles. If you have information about yesterday’s blaze, contact the Huron Fire Department.

 

Willard police continue to investigate last Thursday’s armed robbery, at Hy-Miler.

A man entered the store shortly before 4:30am, showed a gun, and demanded money and cigarettes…His face was concealed by a sweatshirt and a bandana. The man made off with several hundred dollars, and a few packs of cigarettes. Anyone with information should contact the Willard police department.

 

A single-vehicle crash in southern Huron County sent a Willard man to the

hospital for treatment of serious injuries.

 

47-year-old Richard Walker was injured Friday evening on New State Road, near

Boughtonville Road in Ripley Township.

 

According to the highway patrol, Walker lost control after passing a farm vehicle, went off the road and overturned several times.

He was flown from the scene to St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center in Toledo. The crash remains under investigation.

 

The federal government has awarded nearly $3 million, to help support domestic violence victims in Ohio.

 

NBA playoff action resumes tonight in Cleveland, as the Cavs take on the Chicago Bulls.

 

Cedar Point opens this Saturday.

 

This Sunday is Mother’s Day.

 

This weekend is when postal carriers will do their part, to help feed needy families.

The National Association of Letter Carriers annual food drive is scheduled for this Saturday. You can help out by collecting and bagging non-perishable food items, and placing them by your mailbox for your letter carrier to deliver to local food banks and pantries.
