Felony charges could be filed in connection with a loud explosion that rang out along the eastern edge of Norwalk Saturday morning.

According to Major Mike Cooksey with the Huron County Sheriff’s Office, deputies raced to Summit Motor Sports Park after dispatchers fielded numerous calls from people who heard it.  Some people claimed a plane crashed and they were advised to stay in their homes.  After checking the area and finding nothing, deputies began questioning raceway employees.  That’s when they learned the explosion was a Halloween prank.  Cooksey said deputies are still taking statements.  Once the investigation is complete, a report will be sent to the Norwalk Law Director’s Office for consideration of charges.
