Two Ohioans have been killed by enemy fire in Afghanistan.

41-year-old Major Michael Donahue of Columbus, and 39-year-old Stephen Byus of Reynoldsburg died Tuesday in Kabul, of injuries suffered during an enemy attack. Byus was a civilian worker for the Department of Defense.

 

Another jail break, this time, in Bowling Green.

Inmate Jhon Rosado climbed a fence at the Northwest Ohio Community Corrections Center last night, and ran to a nearby cornfield. The 24-year-old was last seen wearing a blue jail jump suit, with an orange sweatshirt. Students at Bowling Green State University have been alerted to Rosado’s escape. He was in jail, for domestic violence. Rosado’s escape comes a week after Chardon High School shooter TJ Lane and two others escaped from a prison in Lima. All three were apprehended within hours.

 

A Willard man allegedly involved with a stolen car ring says he’s not guilty.

24-year-old Eddie Tackett Jr. entered his plea this week, in Huron County Common Pleas Court. He’s charged with theft of a motor vehicle, and he’s facing up to 18 months behind bars. Tackett and others are accused of stealing cars, then taking them to a chop-shop in Mansfield. He’s scheduled to stand trial November 4th.

 

Monroeville village administrator Mike Goodwin has resigned.

Village council accepted his resignation earlier this week. Goodwin’s last day was last Friday. He left, for the private sector. Mayor Mike Adelman said the search for a new village administrator will begin soon.

 

Weather permitting, road work will begin Monday on Norwalk’s East Main Street between Woodlawn Avenue and Chatham Street.

The project will include sewer improvements and new pavement.  Work is expected to last three months.

 

The USDA has designated seven northeast Ohio Counties, including Lorain County, as primary natural disaster areas due to damages and loss caused by a freeze from January 2nd to April 17th.

Farmers from Huron and Erie Counties also qualify for assistance because their county is contiguous.  All qualified farm operators in the affected areas are eligible for low interest emergency loans from the USDA’s Farm Service Agency.

 

UPS plans to hire up to 95,000 workers to help deliver packages during the upcoming holiday season.

Positions will include package sorters, loaders, delivery helpers and drivers.  Last year, UPS underestimated the number of deliveries during the holiday shipping season causing some deliveries to be delayed until after Christmas.  To apply, go to UPSjobs.com.
