Day baseball, and a possible sweep by the Cleveland Indians.

The Tribe and Minnesota Twins will play at 1:10 this afternoon at Target Field. The Indians won last night’s game, 5-0.

 

From Norwalk City Hall…

The Water Treatment Plant is re-applying chemicals to treat the upper reservoir, while awaiting lab results from samples taken yesterday. Recreational restrictions will remain in effect until further notice.

Traffic delays are possible, at the railroad crossing on Norwalk’s Woodlawn Avenue. New gates and flashers are being installed there.

Expect traffic delays on Benedict Avenue, south of Elm Street, due to sidewalk repairs.

Left turns are prohibited from Christie onto Norwood, and Christie onto Benedict. The ban is in effect only during school mornings.

 

It’s the first day of school, in Bellevue.

 

A felony drug charge has been filed against a Detroit man caught with two pounds of heroin.

Christopher Triplett was stopped for speeding on I-75 near Findlay. A highway patrol trooper became suspicious, and called in a drug-sniffing dog. A search of Triplett’s car turned up $136,000 worth of heroin under the air filter in the engine compartment. He was taken to the Hancock County Jail. If convicted of heroin possession, he could be sentenced to 10 years in prison.

 

The highway patrol is investigating a fatal crash that claimed a Bellevue woman.

77-year-old Loretta Meacham was killed Tuesday night, at the intersection of U.S. Route 42 and State Route 302 in Ashland County. Also killed in the crash: 25-year-old Autumn Meacham of West Salem. They were passengers in a mini-van that was hit by a driver who ran a stop sign.

 

Grant money is coming to Erie County, to demolish at least 20 blighted homes.

The county has secured $500,000 from the state-run Neighborhood Initiative Program.

 

Perkins police are searching for the person or persons who stole several catalytic converters from cars parked in hotel parking lots.

Those thefts occurred over the weekend. The converters can be sold for scrap.

 

The Highway Patrol has announced plans to conduct a DUI checkpoint tomorrow night in Ottawa County.

The exact location will be announced tomorrow morning.
