A look at COVID numbers…

Statewide, 18-thousand cases were reported yesterday, compared to the now 21-day average of over 16-thousand.

Huron County had 110 new reported cases on Monday.

This comes as some health officials believe, the spread of the COVID Omicron variant might have peaked.

Fire…in Monroeville on Monday. 

The Norwalk Reflector reports that the blaze leveled a home on Geiger Road.

Three fire departments responded to the fire; Fairfield, Huron River Joint Fire District and Norwalk.

More details are expected to be released.

Sheffield Village Police are asking for your help in tracking down James Kimbrough of Lorain.

Kimbrough is wanted on connection with last week’s fatal shooting, outside of the McDonald’s on Detroit Road in Sheffield Village.

A McDonald’s manager…24 year old Milenna Lopez of Lorain…was shot and killed as she sat in her vehicle.

A former athletics volunteer at Lake Ridge Academy in North Ridgeville has been sentenced to 4 years in prison.

29 year old Jason Dimacchia had pled ‘guilty’ to ‘sexual battery’.

He was accused of assaulting a female student during the 2020/21 school year.

The Huron County Board of Mental Health and Addiction Services has released statistics from 2021.

According to Norwalk Ohio News.com, there were 125 overdose-related calls to the board with 24 suspected overdose deaths.

Those numbers compare to 2020, when 106 overdoses resulted in 25 deaths.

Second Harvest Food Bank’s mobile food pantry is headed to Erie County today. 

It will stop at the BGSU Firelands campus in Huron from 4 to 6 pm.

Due to frigid temperatures last night, a warming center opened in Sandusky.

It will remain open until 8 this morning at New Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church on Eddie Henry Way.

Future openings of the warming center will be announced on the City of Sandusky’s Facebook page and website.
