In Cleveland, police have arrested several people in connection with a carjacking that left an off-duty Cleveland police officer, dead.
Shane Bartek was 25…he joined the force 2 years ago.
Police say, an 18 year old woman from Garfield Heights shot and killed Bartek Friday night during the carjacking in the Kamm’s Corners neighborhood.
A 25 year old man from Bedford Heights has also been arrested in connection with the incident.

Elyria Police have released the name of the person, shot and killed, just over three hours into the New Year.
Dominque Anderson of Elyria was 28.
Police found his body at about 3:30 Saturday morning on Kerstetter Way in the downtown area.
No word of any arrests…

A school district is extending its winter break.
Vermilion Schools have announced that their winter break will now last until January 10th, due to COVID-19 concerns.
The district feels that the extended break will help reduce the spread of the virus in the Vermilion community.

The Norwalk Reflector reports that a cyber tip has led to the arrest of a Norwalk man.
The tip was through Internet Crimes Against Children where a 3-month investigation resulted in the search warrant of 43-year-old Nathan Sanger’s home on Milan Avenue.
The case has been sent to Huron County Common Pleas Court.

It’ll be held at Ely Stadium from 3:30 until 5:30.

Local communities have announced their plans for collecting Christmas trees.
In Sandusky, collection will begin next Monday, January 10th, with trees having to be placed on the boulevard by 7 am on the specific collection day.
In Norwalk, collection will also begin the week of January 10th on residents’ particular trash day.
Willard will also be collecting live Christmas trees throughout the first 2 weeks of January.

The new year brings an increase in Ohio’s minimum wage…
It now stands at 9-dollars-and-30-cents an hour for non-tipped employees, and 4-dollars-and-65-cents an hour for tipped workers.
The increase will apply to all workers of businesses with annual, gross receipts of more than 319-thousand-dollars-a-year.
