Huron County Public Health has announced that they’ll be hosting a drive-thru COVID-19 test kit distribution event at the Huron County Fairgrounds next week. 

Six free COVID-19 At-Home Antigen Tests will be distributed per vehicle to the first 600 vehicles, or while supplies last.

It will take place on Tuesday the 14th from 12 noon to 1:30 pm.

COVID numbers were up statewide on Wednesday, with 8,700 cases, compared to the 21-day rolling average of 6,200.  

In Huron County, 61 new cases were reported on Wednesday, putting the total case count at 10,000 since the beginning of the pandemic.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol recently joined forces with other members of the 6-State Trooper Project to focus on impaired driving enforcement. 

During the project, 219 people in Ohio were cited for impaired driving.

The initiative began last Friday and continued through last Sunday.

The 6-State Trooper Project is a multi-state law enforcement partnership.

Water projects in Milan and Monroeville are receiving funding assistance from state grants.

According to Norwalk Ohio News.com, nearly $40,000 is going to Milan and over $330,000 to Monroeville as part of the Ohio BUILDS water infrastructure grant program.

Both projects involve the replacing of waterlines.

School officials in Lorain have released a statement, saying, they’re investigating allegations that last month, a staff member forced a student at Palm Elementary School to eat food that was retrieved from a cafeteria garbage can after the student did not want to eat it, and tossed it out.

The family has filed suit in federal court, asking for unspecified damages.

The Lorain County Prosecutor’s Office has announced, they’ve collected more than 540-thousand-dollars in delinquent real estate tax revenue this year…with another 50-thousand expected by the end of this year.

Most of the delinquent tax revenue is earmarked for local school systems.

The Zoning Board of Appeals and the Planning Commission have approved paperwork, to allow a so-called “Sober House” to continue operations.

“Murray’s Home” is located in the 13-hundred block of West 5th, and can house up to 6 men on the road to recovery.

It has been open for 2 years.

Final preparations are being made for a big event this weekend in Sandusky.

Sandusky Winter Wonderland runs Friday from 3 to 9 pm and Saturday from 10 to 6 at Jackson Street Pier.

The event features ice skating, live music, food trucks and a visit by Santa on Saturday.

Today, the Second Harvest Food Bank will host a drive-thru mobile food pantry at Oakwood Park in Lorain.

Workers and volunteers will be on hand from 2 until 4 pm.

Sports betting is another step closer, to coming to Ohio.

State lawmakers…with bi-partisan support…have passed a bill that would allow sports betting by 2023.

In 2018, the U-S Supreme Court ruled; state could set their own guidelines for sports betting.

Since then, 29 states and Washington D-C have jumped on board.
