A look at COVID numbers…

Erie County Public Health reports 257 new cases over the time frame of October 3rd to October 9th; with no new deaths. Close to 57 percent of Erie County residents are fully vaccinated.

37 new cases were reported in Huron County on Tuesday.

Lorain County Public Health is reporting 875 active COVID cases…up from 809 a week ago…but down from 953 the previous week. The lowest case count came back in early July…with only 10 active cases.

Statewide, there were 4,400 new reported cases on Tuesday, compared to the 21-day rolling average of 5,500.

An Elyria High School assistant football coach was killed in an apartment fire early Tuesday morning.

De’Van Bogard was 27.

It happened on Washington Avenue in Elyria.

Bogard was a former 4-star football recruit out of Cleveland Glenville High School, who attended Ohio State.

A guilty murder plea for a Sandusky man…

According to the Sandusky Register, 22-year-old Bren’Davion Durr of Milan Road pled guilty in connection with the shooting death of 21-year-old De-Yon Hill of Sandusky in December of 2019.

The shooting incident reportedly took place in an alley near Dewey Street in Sandusky.

Area authorities are looking for a driver who fled from a crash scene, following a pursuit last Friday.

The Norwalk Post of the State Highway Patrol followed the vehicle into Fostoria, with law enforcement unable to locate the driver.

Anyone with info is asked to call the State Highway Patrol Post in Norwalk.

Crude oil prices have surged above 80-daollars-a-barrell for the first time in 7 years, and we’re seeing it at the pump.

Many service stations here in northern Ohio…pumping up their pump-prices…to 3-29-a-gallon.

The Lorain County Prosecutor’s Office has announced, Elyria Police used ‘reasonable force’ when they arrested a man on Melvyn Lane last month.

Police had responded to a reported ‘domestic incident’.

A large crowd had gathered, and several people used cell phones to record the arrest.

Amherst…is in the market for a new police chief.

Joe Kucirek has announced his retirement after a nearly 3-month investigation into allegations of ‘low morale’ in the department.

A committee of Elyria City Council recommends the city buy a new traffic software package to improve traffic flow in select parts of the city.

The price tag would be just over 1-million-dollars…the cost covered by grants and stimulus money.

Early voting continues for the November election…

In Huron County, voters can cast their ballots this week, through Friday, from 8 to 5, at the Meeting Room inside the County Administration Building in Norwalk.

Voters are asked to park in the back of the building and go through Entrance C.

A reminder to Sandusky residents…

There will be a leaf drop-off spot at the City Service Center, running 7 days a week from October 25th through January 21st.

Curbside leaf pick-up will then start on November 15th, scheduled by zone.
