The 9th district court of appeals has upheld a ‘guilty’ verdict in the case of a woman from Vermilion.
Julene Simko was accused of killing her husband, Jeremy, in 2009.
She was charged 5 years later, and sentenced to life-in-prison 4 years ago…with a chance of parole in 2045.

A Norwalk-based, Lake Erie Construction vehicle was part of a multi-vehicle crash in Lorain County Monday morning.
The Norwalk Reflector reports that 4 people were hurt in the crash, when a car went left of center and struck the commercial construction vehicle.
Both occupants of the car were hospitalized with serious injuries, while the two people in the commercial vehicle received non-life threatening injuries.

In Huron County COVID-19 numbers…
7 new cases were reported on Monday.
The death toll is at 115 since the pandemic began.

COVID-19 vaccination clinics are coming to Firelands Regional Medical Center in Sandusky.
Two walk-in clinics have been announced, with the first happening Wednesday from 12 noon to 6 pm.
Two appointment-only clinics have also been scheduled, the first being next Tuesday May 4th from 8 am to 4 pm.

Cedar Point is easing their mask policy as they prepare for the 2021 season.
The park says that masks will NOT be required outdoors, unless it’s not possible to maintain 6 foot of social distancing.
Masks will be required indoors, unless actively eating and drinking.
Other COVID-19 protocols will be in place including health screenings for all guests and reservations to attend the park.
Cedar Point will open for the season May 14th.

It appears, the next superintendent of the Avon Schools is coming from within.
According to the Chronicle Telegram, the Avon School Board will meet tomorrow night, to offer the position to Ben Hodge, the current Assistant Superintendent.
Hodge would replace Mike Laub, who’s leaving for the North Royalton Schools.

More and more roundabouts are being built across Ohio, and now, according to the Chronicle Telegram, there’s talk of putting one in Avon Lake.
It would be built at Lake and Miller Roads…a high traffic area that includes the entrance to Miller Road Park on the lake.

The State of Ohio has endorsed tax incentives for a company expansion in Medina County.
“Superior Roll Forming” in Liverpool Township expects to create 150 full-time positions, generating 7-and-a-half-million-dollar in new, annual payroll, and retain another 11-million-dollars in existing payroll.
The company is a custom roll form producer, serving the automotive industry and other commercial markets.

New leadership is coming to the Mental Health, Addiction and Recovery Services of Lorain County…
After a 4-month search, the board has hired Michael Doud as Executive Director.
He’ll replace Interim Executive Director Elaine Georgas (JOR-gus) on June 1st.
Doud has 32 years of experience in behavioral health.

Their mobile food pantry is set to be on hand at Edison High School from 4:30 to 6:00 pm.

A tree planting ceremony is set for Arbor Day, this Friday, in Norwalk.
At 4:00 pm, a Kentucky Coffee Tree will be planted in honor of Bernie Car’s 15 years of service to the Norwalk Tree Board.
The ceremony will take place at Sofios Park on North Old State Road.

…that…according to preliminary census numbers…reflecting shifts in population.
Several states will pick up seats, including Texas, Florida and Colorado.
