Huron County has 5,333 cases of the Coronavirus and 114 deaths since the beginning of the pandemic.
Erie County has 7,644 cases of COVID-19 and 154 deaths since the pandemic began.
Lorain County has 24,333 cases and 473 deaths since the beginning of the pandemic

Yesterday Governor Mike DeWine provided an update on vaccination numbers in Ohio.
According to the statement, as of yesterday 38 percent of Ohioans have received at least on Coronavirus vaccination shot.
He also noted that while cases themselves have plateaued the variants of the virus are more contagious for individuals who have not yet been vaccinated.
Dr. Vanderhoff, the chief medical officer at the Ohio Department of Health, said this “Unvaccinated Ohioans lack the same protection against this virus as those who are vaccinated,” and he also warned that Ohioans should not count on herd immunity until more people are vaccinated.

A teenager to Lorain has been sentenced to at least 7 years in prison.
17 year old Treshawn Crooks had pled ‘guilty’ to ‘involuntary manslaughter’.
Crooks was accused of using a stolen gun to shoot and kill 21 year old Dimehz Phillips during an argument one year ago.

The Perkins Township Police department wants everyone to know that a recent social media post is full of false information.
Not a post of theirs, but there was a post being shared on social media regarding an alleged kidnapping and the brandishing of a firearm at the Target in Perkins Township.
There was also information in the post that the police were called and stated that there were recent reports of 2 males trying to kidnap kids and young women.
The PD has looked in the alleged incidents and has found the post was not accurate.
They are also asking that people please make sure that information is accurate and true before posting it.

Students in Oberlin College will soon see a bit of a return to normal.
Oberlin College is planning to roll back its current pandemic-era three semester program and reinstate the two semester program this fall.
This doesn’t mean everything will go quite back to normal though, as fall classes will get a late start on October 4th and students won’t begin their winter break until December 23rd.
A brief winter term will run from January 25th to February 17th, and the spring semester will begin on February 18th.

A reservoir-to-wetland project will be starting this fall in Oberlin.
The old reservoir on Morgan Street will be converted into a wetland preserve beginning this fall.
Plans for the project are about 60 percent complete according to the landscape architect Ryan Bentley.

Another summer festival falls by the wayside due to COVID-19 concerns…
The North Ridgeville Corn Festival committee has announced, there will be NO festival this year.
They expect to return in August of 2022.

-They’ll make it up as part of a traditional doubleheader on Memorial Day.
