In Huron County COVID-19 figures…

1 new death and 8 new cases were reported on Wednesday.

Lorain County Public Health has increased the number of deaths by COVID-19, by 3.

The local total since the pandemic began, stands at 404.

Final preparations are being made for this Saturday’s COVID-19 vaccination clinic at Norwalk High School.  

Huron County Public Health says the clinic still has some Pfizer vaccination appointments available, which can be made at fishertitus.org/coronavirus for those 18 and older.

Those 16 and 17 must call Fisher Titus to make an appointment.

Registration closes today at 4:00 pm.

The clinic runs Saturday from 7am to 4pm.

A trial date has been scheduled for a Sandusky man who’s accused of beating another man with a baseball bat, leading to that man’s death.

According to the Sandusky Register, 38-year-old Ravon Rogers will go to trial on July 20th, after being charged with first-degree felony murder in connection with the death of 58-year-old Artie Grissom of Sandusky in July of last year.

The Lorain County Commissioners have begun the processing of possibly placing 2 levies on the November ballot.

One would be a renewal with a decrease for the T-B Clinic.

The other would be an additional levy, to strengthen the county crime lab…

Officials from the Lorain County Joint Vocational School will be keeping tabs on the weather in late May.

Due to COVID-19 concerns and protocols, the JVS is moving its annual graduation ceremony from the Lorain Palace Theater, outdoors, to the Black River Landing in Lorain.

The ceremony will be held May 21st, with a rain-date of May 25th.

The city of Elyria and Kinetic by Windstream have entered into a partnership to further ‘digital transformation efforts’, including access and training, for Elyria residents.

Mayor Frank Whitfield says, the goal is that every Elyria resident has computer skills, quality devices, and high-speed internet.”

Kinetic by Windstream will fund computer training classes for Elyria residents, as well as a “Hackathon” later this year.

Today, the Second Harvest Food Bank will host a mobile food pantry in Lorain.

It’ll be held at Oakwood Park, and begin at 3:30 pm.

Hydrant flushing is scheduled to start up this week in Sandusky…

The City says that crews will work in consecutive order through specific zones, starting with Zone 1.

Each zone should take around a week to complete, says the city.

For Sandusky residents who want to check out what zone they’re in and when hydrant flushing will take place in their area, visit the city’s website.

The City of Sandusky has announced some amenities coming to the enhanced Jackson Street Pier later this year. 

They include:

-The Erie County Community Foundation Stage, which will bring concerts and live events to the waterfront

-The Firelands Regional Health System LED Screen that will feature the newest movies and cult classics for both children and adults

-The Mylander Pavilion, which will become an open-air or heated space for community and private events

-The Civista Bank Ice Skating Rink, which will debut this November
