Looking at Huron County COVID-19 figures…

11 new cases were reported on Tuesday.

It’s basically a life sentence for a Bellevue man, after recently being convicted on multiple child sex charges, including complicity to rape and complicity to gross sexual imposition.

According to the Sandusky Register, 47-year-old Martin Horvatter has been ordered to spend at least 68 years behind bars for the previously mentioned charges, and faces additional charges on a case that hasn’t yet been sent to trial.

A year after being cancelled due to COVID-19 concerns, the Norwalk 4th of July Parade is coming back for 2021.

The Norwalk Reflector reports that it will take place on Monday, July 5th; because of the 4th being on a Sunday.

Safety guidelines for the event are being worked out.

Cedar Point has announced that Huron native, Carrie Boldman, has been named vice president and general manager of the park.

She succeeds Jason McClure, who has been promoted to senior vice president, park operations, at Cedar Point’s parent company, Cedar Fair.

Boldman previously served as Cedar Point’s vice president of merchandise and games.

Fisher-Titus is set to host a Community Health Screening in New London later this month.

It will take place at Fisher-Titus Medicine on April 29th from 7 to 9 am.

Appointments for screenings are open now through April 26th; and can be made by calling Fisher-Titus.

COVID-19 precautions will be in place.

Lorain County Democratic Party leaders have appointed Inez Williams of Lorain to the Lorain County Board of Elections.

She becomes the first African-American woman to serve on the board.

Huron County Creating Healthy Communities Coalition has announced partnerships with the City of Willard and Village of Wakeman with plans for the creation of 2 large, inclusive community gardens.

A state grant will fund the projects and installation.

The garden in Willard will be located on green space property on North Main Street; and the one in Wakeman will be placed on property behind the Village Office/Police Department on Hyde Street.

The community gardens will offer free garden plots to residents to safely plant, maintain and harvest throughout the year.

University Hospitals and El Centro in Lorain are warning the Latino community of a scam involving a liquid being sold for 100-dollars-a-bottle…a liquid that’s being promoted as a cure…or prevention…from COVID-19.

Apparently, the unknown substance has been sold south of the border and has found its way here.

The Lorain County Commissioners will hold another public hearing later this month on a requested annexation of land from Eaton Township to Grafton Village.

Developer Kevin Flanigan is asking for the action in hopes of building 55 homes on 41 acres of land off of Durkee Road.

Yesterday, the commissioners heard 3 hours of testimony from township and village officials.

A national walleye fishing tournament is on its way to the area.

The 2021 Bass Pro Shops and Cabela’s Masters Walleye Circuit will take to the shores of Port Clinton April 16th and 17th, with thousands of dollars set to be awarded.
