The Winter Storm packed quite a punch last night into this morning, dropping several inches of snow on the area, along with whiteout conditions.

Level 3 Snow Emergency’s remain in effect as of this morning for Erie, Huron, Ottawa, Sandusky and Seneca Counties…meaning roads are closed to all non-emergency personnel.

Lorain County Sheriff Phil Stammitti has issued a Level 2 Road Emergency…meaning…stay off the roads if at all possible.

In Huron County COVID-19 numbers…

7 new cases were reported on Monday.

Fatalities remain at 103.

It’s the morning after the night before…and you know what that means…

At this hour, all school systems in Lorain County are closed to in-person learning.

However, online learning continues in the Lorain and North Ridgeville School Systems…the same for the Lorain County Joint Vocational School and Lorain County Community College.

All schools in the Erie and Huron County area are also closed today.

Because of the winter storm, Sandusky Municipal Court is closed today.

Those with court cases scheduled today, should report for those on Wednesday.

A snow day for college students…

BGSU Firelands in Huron has cancelled classes for today.

Norwalk’s Ernsthausen Rec Center closed early yesterday due to the winter weather.

They’re set to reopen today at 12 noon for the facility, and 3:30 pm for the pool.

Closed today; the Avon Lake Public Library and the Elyria Public Library System.

This afternoon’s mobile food pantry at Eee-lee Stadium in Elyria has been rescheduled…to the 22nd.

Police in Lorain are asking people to come forward to help them solve a double homicide.

This past weekend, two women were shot and killed on “F” Street;

  • 28-year-old Abril Mills
  • and 29-year-old Jerhonda Edwards

(No word yet of any arrests…)

A Sandusky man faces child rape charges.

According to the Sandusky Register, 23-year-old Eugene Arroyo is in jail on 4 counts of rape, allegedly involving 2 victims under the age of 13.

The alleged crimes took place between August and October of last year.

An executed search warrant in New London resulted in the arrest of a man and woman on drug charges.

27-year-old Zachary Gilbert and 22-year-old Samantha Howell have been charged with Fentanyl trafficking.

The Huron County Sheriff’s Office says they learned that both were selling the drug to roughly 30 to 40 people per day throughout Huron County, including Norwalk, Greenwich, and New London.

According to DEA statistics, the amount of Fentanyl recovered during the investigation is enough to kill over 3 times the population of the Village of New London when contacted by a person with a zero tolerance.

He performed with the Electric Light Orchestra and brought us “Hooked on Classics” in the early 80’s.

London-native…Louis Clark of Elyria…has died at the age of 73.

Clark met his future wife…from Lorain……backstage…at an ELO concert at the Richfield Coliseum.

They had homes in London and Elyria before moving here, full-time, more than 25 years ago.

An informational event for the Huron City Schools levy will be held on Wednesday evening.

According to the Sandusky Register, Citizens for Huron City Schools, along with school officials, are hosting the virtual event on their Facebook page at 6:00 pm.

A 5.6 mill emergency operating levy will appear on the May ballot.

The city of Lorain is moving ahead with a grant application, to have the downtown Broadway area, placed on the “National Register of Historic Places”.

If the city makes the grade, downtown renovation projects would benefit from federal and state historic preservation tax credits.

SPORTS

-The Cleveland Cavaliers lost their 8th straight last night, falling to Golden State 129-98, to wrap up their 5-game western road trip.

-In boys high school basketball, Western Reserve head coach Chris Sheldon picked up career win number 300 last night, as the Roughriders beat New London 72-50.
