Governor Mike DeWine announced Thursday that Ohio’s overnight curfew will be extended.
It was set to expire on Saturday.
As a reminder, the curfew runs from 10:00 pm to 5:00 am, but does not apply to those going to and from work, those who have an emergency, or those who need medical care; and is not intended to stop anyone from getting groceries or going to the pharmacy.

COVID-19 testing news…
Governor DeWine said Thursday that the state is purchasing 2 million at-home, rapid COVID-19 tests, where the results are delivered in minutes without the need to send the test to a lab for processing.
The easy-to-use antigen test detects the virus when people are most infectious.

The county had 3 new deaths reported Thursday, for a total of 41.
Huron County also had 42 new cases on Thursday.

Lorain County Public Health reports; the number of local COVID-19 cases since the pandemic began, has surpassed 15-thousand.
…with the death toll at 201.

Erie, Huron and Lorain County remain in the ‘red’ when it comes to the state’s color-coded chart for Corona Virus spread.
Last week, Lorain County was placed on the ‘watch list’, meaning, it was edging toward the most severe category of ‘purple’.
Only one county remains ‘purple’…Hamilton County…which includes Cincinnati.

Multiple injuries from a two-vehicle crash last night on Route 6, east of Rye Beach Road, in Huron…
The State Highway Patrol says 19-year-old Anthony Swain of Sandusky drove his car off the right side of the road, struck a curb, and then left-of-center and hit another car, driven by 30-year-old Ian Bowers of Vickery, head-on.
There were 3 passengers with Swain.
All involved in the crash were hurt, Bowers seriously.

Police in Lorain are asking for your help in finding a woman, reported missing Monday.
Family members say, they last heard from Michelle Opaliski on January 16th.
Police say, they found her pick-up truck this week, on the city’s south side.

Damage from this week’s big barn fire at Miller Orchards in Brownhelm Township has been pegged at 270-thousand-dollars.
The barn housed apple processing gear and tools.

The Friendship APL has removed more than 50 dogs from a kennel in Columbia Station.
Executive Director Greg Willey tells the Chronicle Telegram, a number of the dogs needed emergency medical care.
Greg says, they’re working to identify the owner.
So far, no charges have been filed.

A Toledo man was arrested in Huron Township Thursday after being involved in a police chase and crash.
According to the Sandusky Register, 27-year-old Dylan Gerboc was stopped for a high level of window tint and felony warrants while on the Rye Beach Road exit ramp off Route 2.
He then reportedly took off on Rye Beach Road before crashing into a tree and a business sign.
No one was hurt.

Norwalk Police Captain Eric Hipp is calling it a career.
After 34 years of service, Hipp’s last day is today.
Hipp started his career with the Norwalk PD as an auxiliary officer in 1986 and became a full-time patrol officer in 1989.
He was named Captain in 2005.
