Police say, 16-year-old Steven Billings Junior was behind the wheel of a speeding car that struck a tree near East 29th and Oakwood.
Billings was hurt.
Two passengers were killed;

Huron, Erie and Lorain counties all remained at Level 3 Red status in the new color-coded ratings for CoronaVirus spread released Thursday.
Richland County is now the only county in the state at a Level 4 Purple, the most severe level.

Superintendent George Fisk says a student from Main Street Intermediate and a District level staff member have both tested positive.
All students and staff impacted have been informed of their quarantine requirements.

Residents at the Ohio Veterans Home in Sandusky are scheduled to start receiving CoronaVirus vaccines today.
According to the Sandusky Register, the Erie County Health Department and Firelands Regional Medical Center are expected to receive the vaccinations next week.

Sunday, Lorain County Health and Dentistry in Lorain will host a drive-thru, rapid COVID-19 test.
It’ll be held at their new drive-thru complex…1205 Broadway…from 8 until noon.
There will be no charge for the COVID-19 test.

Learning model news from South Central Schools…
They will be moving to full remote learning on December 21st and 22nd, with a decision still to be made on the learning model for after Christmas break.

Officials from the Lorain County Joint Vocational School have announced, they will resume limited, in-person classes on January 19th…the start of the new semester.
The school went to remote learning about a month ago when Lorain County was moved up to Level 4 Purple on the state’s color-coded map for Corona Virus spread.

A Sandusky teacher who allegedly had sexual contact with an underage student is having his case sent to a grand jury.
According to the Sandusky Register, 37-year-old Jeff Sherman has been charged with sexual battery.
He was placed on administrative leave in September before resigning in late October.

A Medina man, who lied about being a missing child from Illinois, faces prison time.
25-year-old Brian Rini has been sentenced to 2 years behind bars.
In April of 2019, Rini told authorities he was 14-year-old Timothy Pitzen, a child who had gone missing in 2011.
Rini learned of Pitzen by watching the “20/20” television program.

For the second time this week, someone has accessed a Lorain County school ‘zoom’ presentation.
Last night, cartoon clips, music videos and a pornographic image appeared during the Lorain City Schools’ town hall forum.
Earlier in the week, pornographic images popped up during a middle school class in the Firelands School System.

About 50 members of the Ohio National Guard based in Columbus will NOT be home for Christmas.
They’re shipping out Sunday for Europe, to support U-S defense efforts.
They’re scheduled to return home one year from now.
