In state COVID-19 numbers…
Ohio reported 98 deaths on Tuesday, the second highest reported in a 24-hour period since the pandemic began.
Total hospitalizations are also continuing to trend upwards, says Governor DeWine’s office, with 4,400+ patients currently hospitalized…and over 1,000 of those patients in intensive care units.

Over 300 new cases of COVID-19 were reported in Lorain County on Tuesday, bringing the county total to 6475.
The death toll for the county stands at 89.

News on a COVID-19 vaccine in Ohio…
Governor Mike DeWine said Tuesday that the state could see its first batches by December 15th.
The state’s distribution plan is expected to give high priority to first-responders, people considered high-risk and teachers and school staff members.
The state looks to provide the first vaccine batches to local health departments for initial distribution,

In a letter released to residents Tuesday, Huron County Health Commissioner Tim Hollinger warns against the spread of COVID-19 this Thanksgiving, by asking the community to think twice about hosting large groups.

Hollinger said that the safest Thanksgiving gatherings will include only people in your own immediate household and virtually meeting with others.
Hollinger also pointed out that over the last three weeks, the number of COVID-19 cases reported in Huron County has consistently doubled.
The Ohio High School Athletic Association, in conjunction with the Governor’s Office, is recommending that schools restrict attendance to only the parents of the participants, or eliminate all spectators, for their winter sports competitions through the rest of the year.
This comes after remarks from Governor DeWine regarding the spike in COVID-19 cases, during his news conference on Tuesday.

The State Highway Patrol says they will be highly visible and cracking down on impaired drivers and those not wearing their seat belts, during the Thanksgiving weekend.
During last year’s Thanksgiving reporting period, November 27th through December 1st, there were 15 fatal crashes in which 18 people were killed.
Of those 18 killed, eight were not wearing available safety belts and seven of the crashes involved alcohol and/or drugs.

In response to a rise in COVID-19 cases around the county, judges at the Lorain County Common Pleas Court have suspended all jury trials at the county’s Justice Center until at least January 4th.
The court will still be open for civil and criminal matters while numerous video and remote services are being offered.

This, due to COVID-19 and several other postponements around the county.
