So much for lower gas prices, for the holiday weekend.

Yesterday, area pump prices shot up by as much as 30 cents, to $3.89 a gallon for self-serve regular.

 

U.S. Route 6, or Cleveland Road in Huron Township is closed until tomorrow.

It was scheduled to re-open yesterday, but unforeseen conditions beneath the road’s surface have led to additional work to replace a culvert.

 

In Huron County, the results of the May 6th primary election are official.

They were certified yesterday, by the Board of Elections.

 

A Fremont man is in the Erie County Jail, charged with raping a 12-year-old girl in a Perkins Township hotel room.

The alleged incident between 22-year-old Nicholas Wohn and the Toledo girl occurred earlier this month, at Maui Sands. His case will go before a grand jury.

 

To Columbus, where a juror had to explain why he didn’t show up for deliberations, in a murder trial.

20-year-old Ke’Chaun Lewis was due in Franklin County Common Pleas Court Monday morning, but failed to show. His excuse: He was in jail. Lewis was arrested Sunday for allegedly robbing a man, and was still locked up Monday morning.

 

Ohio lawmakers are considering legislation creating enhanced driver’s licenses that could be used in place of passports when traveling to Canada or Mexico.

The proposed bill has cleared the Ohio House Transportation, Public Safety and Homeland Security Committee. A few states, including Michigan, already offer enhanced driver’s licenses.

 

A change, involving Saturday’s ‘Great American Treasure Hunt’ in Norwalk…

It’ll be held at Suhr Park on West Main Street, instead of the middle of Main. The hours are the same, 8am until 2pm.
