An unprecedented number of reported daily COVID-19 cases, along with system errors and other factors — caused the Ohio Department of Health to not release their Corona Virus totals on Wednesday.

As of last night, there were over 6,000 positive cases reported statewide, with thousands of pending reports from local health departments still to be factored in.

In Erie County COVID-19 numbers…

Before the state delay, Erie Country reported 5 more deaths to bring the total to 64, as well as 97 overall cases.

A statewide 3-week, overnight curfew goes into effect tonight. 

The curfew runs from 10:00 pm to 5:00 am, with some exceptions, including leaving for work, an emergency and for medical reasons.

Meanwhile, the Ohio House has passed a bill to stop Governor DeWine and the State Department of Health from closing businesses.

The Business Fairness Act will now go to the Ohio Senate for approval.

Dewine has said he’ll veto it.

Multiple staff members at Norwalk City Schools have tested positive for COVID-19.

It includes 3 from Pleasant Elementary and 2 from Norwalk Middle School.

Superintendent George Fisk said if the COVID-19 positive test numbers with staff members continue to grow, the school district may have to pause their in-person learning models at impacted schools until staff can return.

Three people have been taken to the hospital from a crash in Amherst Township.

The Highway Patrol says, it happened last night, when a teenager lost control of the car he was driving, and crashed into a house at Middle Ridge and Oberlin Roads.

The driver, a teenage passenger, and a man in the house were hurt.

Troopers found the car…on its side…inside the home.

A Vermilion man who crashed his car into a home, causing it to explode, has been sentenced to jail time and ordered to pay $50,000 in restitution.

According to the Sandusky Register, 58 year-old Kenneth Karnow will spend 2 and-a-half years behind bars after previously pleading guilty to aggravated assault and failure to stop after an accident.

In January of 2019, Karnow ran his SUV into a Vermilion Township home on Darrow Road, hitting the home’s gas meter.

Residents in the home were able to escape safely before it exploded and burned down.

The city of Bellevue is in the market for a new fire chief.

According to the Sandusky Register, they’ve fired current chief Brian Sears after a city investigation looked at claims that Sears created a hostile work environment.

Sears had been chief since 2015.

COVID-19 concerns have killed off another holiday tradition.

The Cuyahoga Valley National Park has parked its Polar Express train, for the rest of its scheduled run.

-In the NBA Draft last night, with their lone pick, the Cleveland Cavaliers selected guard/forward Isaac Okoro from Auburn University, fifth overall.

-In college football Wednesday night, Toledo beat Eastern Michigan 45-28.
