Checking area COVID-19 numbers…

Erie County reported 4 more Corona Virus deaths on Monday to put the county at a total of 59, with an additional 143 new COVID cases reported.

Huron County had 40 new cases reported Monday.

Lorain County is closing in on 5-thousand COVID-19 cases since the pandemic began.  The local death toll there stands at 88.

Statewide…another 72-hundred cases posted Monday…

A revised state health order involving mass gatherings has been signed.

Along with mass gatherings being limited to 10 people, the order adds
the following stipulations…

-Masks must be worn at all times in small group settings, such as weddings and funerals, unless actively eating or drinking

-No self-serve buffets and no self-serve bar areas permitted

-No more than 10 people should be seated at a table and those individuals must be from the same household

-No dancing!

COVID-19 concerns have several school systems making changes…

Today, Avon Lake High School and Troy Intermediate School move to online learning only.

Tomorrow, the Lorain County Joint Vocational School will return to remote-learning-only.

In the Clearview School System, students at Durling Middle School will learn online the rest of this week, due to staff illness and quarantine.

And…the Elyria City Schools will move to virtual learning after Thanksgiving.

A person was injured in a reported stabbing in Clyde late Sunday, early Monday.

The Fremont News Messenger reports that a suspect is in custody in connection with the incident, but there have been no details released involving the victim.

A man from Columbus has been indicted on multiple charges involving  the alleged sexual assault of a Perkins Township underage girl.

According to the Sandusky Register, 28 year-old Devante Adams faces charges of rape, kidnapping and abduction from an alleged incident last August.

A former mayor of North Ridgeville has died.

Floyd Peaco Junior served as mayor from 1983 to 1989.

More recently, he served as ‘track announcer’ for Summit Motor Sports Park in Norwalk.

A golf pro from Elyria…who qualified for two U-S Opens…has died.

Charlie Smith was 92.

Charlie once co-owned the Forest Hills Country Club and was inducted into the Elyria Sports Hall of Fame in 1991.

One person has been taken to Metro in Cleveland after a one-car crash in Elyria.

It happened last night at 16th and East, with a car striking a utility pole.

Fire has resulted in about one-million-dollars in damage at Ohio Metallurgical Service on Clark Street in Elyria.

The State Fire Marshall’s Office will investigate the cause of last night’s fire.

No one was hurt…

Construction work in Sandusky this week…

West Jefferson Street, between Columbus Avenue and Jackson Street, is closing today for water repairs.

Both railroad crossings at Edgewater Avenue and Mills Street will be closed Wednesday through Saturday.

The Huron girls volleyball team made some school history Sunday night by capturing a state title.

To recognize and celebrate their accomplishments, a parade was held last night through town.

It’s the 5th state title in Huron volleyball program history.

A new hotel is in the works in Perkins Township on Route 250.

According to the Sandusky Register, a Fairfield Inn and Suites is planned for the former site of the Roadway Inn, which is currently being demolished.

It’s anticipated to be opened by the spring of 2022, next to Mad River Harley Davidson.
