A Sandusky man is in critical condition, after crashing his motorcycle in Milan Township.

24-year-old Bruce Parker was injured last night, on River Road. According to reports, Parker failed to negotiate a curve, and hit a utility pole. Deputies believe he was going 70 miles per hour, when he crashed. Parker was flown to St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center in Toledo.

 

A Monroeville teen somehow escaped serious injury after yesterday’s head-on crash on Peru-Center Road, near State Route 113.

Jude Doss lost control of his car and hit a concrete pump truck head-on.  Doss emerged with a few scrapes.  The truck driver was unharmed.

 

PolyOne sold more than $1 billion dollars of product in the first three months of this year, a 25 percent increase over the first quarter of 2013.

The PolyOne Corporation is a global maker of special polymers. The company is headquartered in Avon Lake, and has a factory in Norwalk.

 

An equipment malfunction sparked a fire that did $5,000 at Norwalk’s Janesville Acoustics.

Firefighters were summoned to the Industrial Parkway factory short after 5:30pm yesterday.  The blaze had been mostly contained by employees, but there was heavy smoke.  No one was injured.  Crews remained at the scene for nearly two hours.

 

The Huron County Commissioners are taking their show on the road.

The Commissioners will meet in regular session at 9:10 next Tuesday morning, at Willard High School.

 

This weekend, some Ohioans will join a movement to build support for marijuana policy reform.

Dozens will make their way around the Justice Center in Cleveland, for the 2014 Global Cannabis March. Rob Ryan, president of the group Ohio NORML—the National Organization to

Reform Marijuana Laws—says support is growing for legalizing marijuana. He cites a 2009 poll that said even five years ago, 73 percent of Ohio adults favored allowing medical marijuana use.

The proposed Ohio Cannabis Rights Amendment would create a state panel to license, regulate and control medical marijuana use. Currently, 21 states and DC allow medical marijuana use under a doctor’s recommendation. Washington state and Colorado have legalized recreational use.

 

Last chance for early voting, ahead of Tuesday’s primary election.

The Board of Elections Office will be open until 5 today, then from 8am until noon tomorrow.

 

Ohio’s public schools are doing a better job of graduating students.

The National Center for Education says 78-percent of Ohio students earn their diploma within four years of starting high school.  It’s the highest statewide graduation rate in Ohio in 40 years and is ahead of the national rate.

 

There is a new scam out there…

If you get a text message claiming to be from Fifth Third Bank telling you there is a problem with their MasterCard, don’t respond to it.  The Better Business Bureau says it’s a scam.  Several people reported getting the text message on Thursday.  They say if you want to make sure there isn’t a problem with your account, call the bank directly and not the number provided in the message.

 

Ohio has been ranked as the 16th most friendly bicycle state.

The ranking comes from the League of American Bicyclists. Last year, Ohio was ranked 32nd.
