Governor Mike DeWine Thursday announced the reopening of more businesses; including bars and restaurants and hair salons. 

May 15th is the date for the reopening of outdoor dining as well as hair salons and like businesses, with May 21st the date for indoor dining to reopen. 

Of course, those reopening come with safety protocols and social distancing guidelines.

 

The latest COVID-19 numbers…

Statewide – over 22,100 cases – More than 600 more cases Thursday
1,271 deaths – 46 deaths reported Thursday

Erie County – 74 confirmed cases – 6 more reported Thursday

Huron County – 34 cases – No new cases on Thursday

 

Lorain County Public Health confirms…

…two more deaths from the Corona Virus, along with 17 new cases reported yesterday.

41 residents of Lorain County have now died from the virus…

 

Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost announced Thursday plans to trim over $4.6 million from his office’s budget to help soften the blow of COVID-19 on the state’s finances.

The reductions include remaining dollars from untapped local government grant programs that expire at the end of the fiscal year.

 

An Elyria woman has been charged with ‘murder’.

37 year-old Holly Baire is accused of stabbing and killing 33 year-old Jamie Royster during an argument, in the 400 block of Lorain Boulevard, late yesterday afternoon.

 

The Wellington School Board has voted to wrap up the current school-year, May 29th…several days ahead of schedule.

According to the Chronicle Telegram, all eyes will focus on the

2020/21 school year…including…what it will look like, and when it will begin…

 

Prices at the pump continue climbing…still below 2-dollars-a-gallon…but up 40 to 70 cents a gallon over the past week…

 

Two major construction and beautification projects in Sandusky are set to wrap up in about 2 weeks.

According to the Sandusky Register, both the new Jackson Street Pier and Shoreline Drive projects are set to be finished by May 22nd. 

 

A part of the reopening of Ohio includes city halls. 

Among those are Norwalk and Willard City Halls, who are set to reopen to the public on Monday. 

Masks will be required to enter.

 

Huron County is the latest locality to become part of Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library book program. 

Parents of children from birth through age 5 can register to receive a free book each month.
