The latest Corona Virus facts and figures…

Statewide – over 18,000 total cases – around 700 new cases reported Thursday – 975 total fatalities – 38 deaths reported Thursday

Erie County – 54 confirmed cases – 2 reported Thursday

Huron County – 29 confirmed – No new cases reported Thursday

Lorain County – 31 confirmed deaths after 5 more deaths reported Thursday – Another 27 confirmed cases on Thursday

 

Ohio partially reopens for business today…

Dentists and veterinarians have been given the OK to open back up today with other businesses and manufacturing reopening over the next week or so. 

 

As Ohio begins to gradually reopen its economy today, retail outlets are slated to open their doors a week from Tuesday, May 12th.

One of those, being the Sandusky Mall, as the Sandusky Register reports that management is planning on a May 12th reopening.

In another update, Port Clinton’s African Safari Wildlife Park will reopen tomorrow (May 2nd). The 65-acre outdoor Drive-Thru Safari will be the only attraction available to guests. 

 

The Huron County Board of Mental Health and Addiction Services remains open during the pandemic; offering help and support to the community. 

The board’s Kristen Cardone says it’s ok right now to be feeling a wide range of emotions.

Some big-time recognition for a local hospital…

The Norwalk Reflector reports that Fisher-Titus Medical Center in Norwalk has received an “A” for their Spring 2020 Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade. 

Leapfrog puts out national hospital safety grades in the spring and fall. 

 

Norwalk High School’s Class of 2020 now has a place to graduate. 

A post on the Norwalk City School’s Facebook page says Summit Motorsports Park will host the graduation ceremonies…with more details to be released. 

 

The leader of the Lorain School’s Academic Distress Commission says, the Educational Service Center of Lorain County will conduct the search for a new CEO.

The process was suspended due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

The contract of interim CEO Greg Ring expires July 31st.

Covid-19 concerns have prompted the Lorain County Commissioners to postpone this month’s Lorain County Pride Day…

The annual community clean-up was scheduled for May 16th.

Commissioner Sharon Sweda says, they hope to re-schedule the event.

 

The Lorain County Sheriff’s Office is warning residents of a scam, in which the caller pretends to be calling from…the Sheriff’s Office!

And…if you return their call, it takes you to an automated system that claims to be the Sheriff’s Office.

The real Sheriff’s Office says, this is a scam…it’s someone phishing for personal information.
