During Monday’s news conference, Governor Mike DeWine began discussing what businesses will start to reopen in May as the “ReStart Ohio” initiative approaches. 

Not on the list though, restaurants and hair salons… 

Dentist and veterinarians – reopening May 1st

Manufacturing, distribution, and construction – reopening May 4th

General office environments – reopening May 4th

Consumer, retail and services – back open May 12th

 

A look at the latest Corona Virus numbers in the state and area…

Statewide – over 16,300 – around 400 new cases reported Monday
753 total fatalities – 25-plus deaths reported Monday

Erie County – 52 confirmed cases – 5 more Tuesday (today)

Huron County – 29 confirmed – 1 new case reported Monday

 

The death toll from COVID-19 continues to climb…

In Lorain County, two more reported yesterday, along with 9 new cases and 5 more suspected cases.

The number of Lorain County residents who have died from the virus now stands at 26.

 

The Erie County Health Department has announced the launch of a new COVID-19 Symptom Collector in Ohio.

The tool allows people to report their symptoms in real-time, from the safety of their own homes; and will allow the Erie County Health Department to identify and monitor new hotspots of residents who may have the virus and may soon require testing and care, in near real-time.

The web-based platform can be used with a mobile phone, tablet or computer.

 

Another summer event, cancelled, due to the Corona Virus…

The 17th annual Avon Heritage Duct Tape Festival was scheduled for mid-June.

 

Today is “Heroes Day” in Avon and Avon Lake…with officials from both communities, encouraging residents to stand curbside at 7pm, to give healthcare workers a ‘standing ovation’

 

Some financial help is on the way to around 90 Sandusky small businesses.

According to the Sandusky Register, each small business received $500 to $3,000 in economic development funds to help them get back on their feet amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
