The latest on the Corona Virus in Ohio…
The state’s latest figures show Ohio with over 11,600 total confirmed cases of COVID-19 and 471 total fatalities.
Erie County had 10 new cases over the weekend; 7 of those came Saturday as a cluster of 7 employees of Firelands Counseling and Recovery in Sandusky tested positive for the virus.
Erie County now has a grand total of 35 COVID-19 cases.
In Huron County, there were no new cases over the weekend to keep them at 16.
Lorain County has had a total of 296 total cases of the Corona Virus.
The Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction has confirmed; three employees of the Lorain Correctional Institution in Grafton have tested ‘positive’ for the virus.
The number of Lorain County residents who have lost their lives to the Corona Virus now stands at 18…that includes 3 more yesterday.
Law enforcement has identified the man whose body was found near the Erie County Sheriff’s Office in Sandusky Saturday morning.
Chianti Ghalson was 52.
According to the Sandusky Register, there were no signs of foul play; but the cause of death remains unknown, pending an autopsy.
Ghalson had been released from the Erie County Jail on Friday evening.
North Central EMS in Milan was recently one of three Emergency Medical Service Organizations to be awarded a state grant for a Rural Pilot Program.
The program aims to provide health care to patients in rural areas that may have difficulty accessing primary care services.
No one was hurt as a woman and three children were able to escape a second story apartment fire in a historic Milan building on Friday.
According to the Norwalk Reflector, the afternoon fire on North Main Street, near Jim’s Pizza Box and the Invention Restaurant, was started when a child tossed a lit piece of paper into a trash can; causing bedding to catch fire.
The apartment was deemed uninhabitable.
The Ohio Department of Transportation will be taking a portion of Route 2 eastbound, down to one lane at times this week.
Crews will be trimming trees along Route 2 from Middle Ridge to I-90.
An announcement of an upcoming closure of a railroad crossing in Norwalk…
Beginning next Monday, April 27th, Northwest Street, between Jefferson and Washington, will be closed due to train track repairs.
The closure will run from April 27th through May 4th.
Detour signs will be posted.
The senior class of 2020 will be honored tonight across several area schools on this April 20th.
Participating schools will light up their football or other sports stadiums for 20 minutes and 20 seconds at 8:20 pm (20:20 military time) to recognize the class of 2020.
