Governor Mike DeWine has declared a state of emergency for Ohio in connection with Monday’s announcement of the first 3 cases of coronavirus in the state.
DeWine says the state of emergency allows state departments and agencies to better coordinate in their response.
The three individuals with the virus, each in their 50’s, live in Cuyahoga County and have had known contact with others who have a confirmed diagnosis of coronavirus.

Police in Sandusky are seeking a man wanted on charges of aggravated menacing, child endangering and domestic violence.
According to the Sandusky Register, 34-year-old Lee Riehl of Sandusky is accused of assaulting a woman and threatening to kill her and her children.

The U.S. Coast Guard’s Marblehead Station had to escort over one-hundred people that were stranded on an ice-floe off Catawba Island State Park Monday morning.

St. Patrick’s Day is one week from today…and the Lorain County Prosecutor’s Office has announced the return of its Arrive Alive safe ride service.
Free rides will be offered within Lorain County from 6am St. Patrick’s Day until 3am Wednesday.
The Arrive Alive program is paid for, with money seized from drug dealers that has been forfeited to the Lorain County Prosecutor’s Office.

A road closure is underway in Willard.
Coder Road, between Section Line 30 and Bigham Road, shut down yesterday for a bridge deck replacement.
It’s scheduled to be closed for approximately 2 weeks.

Sandusky Transit has released their February ridership numbers; which show a major increase from the same time a year ago.
There were more than 19,000 rides this past February; up 41 ½ percent over 2019 and an increase of 261 percent from 2018.

A storm spotter training event from the National Weather Service is planned for next week in Sandusky County.
It will take place March 18th from 6:30 to 8:30 pm at Sandusky Job and Family Services in Fremont.
It’s free and open to the public.

Fisher-Titus will again host ‘Couch to 5K’, a free 9-week program to help participants prepare for their first 5K run-walk.
An informational session will take place next Tuesday at 6:15 p.m. in the Community Room at the Ernsthausen Community Center in Norwalk.
The program will conclude with participants running in the Strawberry Scamper 5K on May 23rd during the Strawberry Festival in Norwalk.
