A Flood Watch goes into effect for the area tonight at 7 pm; running through 10 pm Saturday.

Moderate to heavy rain is in the forecast with a total of 1 to 3 inches expected by Saturday night; and possibly more in certain areas.

 

A volunteer search party for missing 14-year-old Harley Dilly has been planned for Saturday.

It will begin at the Lakeview Park Shelter House in Port Clinton, running from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm. 

Port Clinton Police remind participants to not trespass on private property, unless you have permission.

Dilly was last seen December 20th.

 

An Elyria woman is due in court…accused of leaving her 4-year-old daughter, home alone, while she went out to buy marijuana.

37-year-old Stephanie Pajowski was arrested early Thursday after good Samaritans called 9-1-1 to say, a child was in the street, crying, calling for her mother.

 

The Erie County Sheriff’s Office has recognized multiple officers who helped during a drug overdose situation in the jail. 

Corrections Officer Jeff Doster, Corrections Sergeant Adam Bess, Corrections Officer Hayley White, and Corrections Sergeant Yon Roth were presented with Certificates of Merit. 

The four officers helped save the lives of three inmates who had overdosed.

The Sheriff’s Office says that those responsible for the smuggled drugs are being prosecuted.

 

The inaugural state Human Trafficking Summit, “Hope in Action”, was held Thursday in Columbus.

The event, put on by State Attorney General Dave Yost, featured survivor’s stories, success stories, lessons learned, educational sessions and best practices; all designed to end human trafficking in Ohio.

 

Lorain County communities might soon notice some new faces patrolling their neighborhoods.

Graduation ceremonies were held last night for 19 new officers who completed their training at the Lorain County Community College Police Training Academy.

The academy began in 2002, and more than 600 cadets have successfully gone through the program.

College President…Dr. Marcia Ballinger…says, LCCC is the number one location in Lorain County for first responder training.

 

Another successful ‘Shoebox Christmas’ at Victory Kitchen in Sandusky…

They say over 1,000 local children in need received boxes and bags of toys and other items. 

 

Fisher-Titus Medical will soon be closing their retail pharmacy in Norwalk.

After three years of operations, the last day of business for Kaiser Community Pharmacy will be next Wednesday.

Fisher-Titus CEO Brent Burkey says the last 18 months were very challenging for the pharmacy to remain a successful business operation.

Prescriptions are being automatically transferred to Walgreens.

 

The brand new Cedar Point Sports Center in Sandusky opens its doors tomorrow morning with a Grand Opening Celebration.

Officials say the day will be filled with sports, family entertainment, giveaways and more. 

The 145,000 square foot indoor sports complex includes 10 full-size basketball courts that adapt to 20 full-size volleyball courts; along with a sports medicine facility.

The fun begins at 10:00 am.

 

The Huron Soil and Water Conservation District in Norwalk has begun their spring sales of tree seedlings and fish for pond stocking.

The ordering deadline for tree seedlings is February 28th…and April 7th for fish.
