One killed, one seriously hurt, in a one-vehicle crash in Ottawa County on New Year’s Eve.
The State Highway Patrol says 29-year-old Michael Reichert was pronounced dead after the truck he was driving went off the road and overturned on West Schiller Road in Benton Township.
Passenger, 22-year-old Nicholas Heintz of Oak Harbor, was transported to a Toledo hospital.
Meanwhile…a separate crash in Ottawa County early today has left an Oak Harbor woman seriously hurt.
25-year-old Catherine Moyer was taken to a hospital in Toledo after her car flipped and overturned in a ditch on West Toussant Road in Carroll Township.
Authorities say passenger, 26-year-old Eric Robertson of Oak Harbor, interrupted Moyer’s driving by taking her hand off the steering wheel.
Gunshots rang in the New Year in Elyria.
Police say, they responded to the Days Inn on Lorain Boulevard and found a woman with a gunshot wound to the arm.
No other details have been released…
Members of the Erie County Sheriff’s Office are now prepared on how to handle a crisis involving those with mental illness and addiction.
According to the Sandusky Register, officers have recently completed a 40-hour Crisis Intervention Team training with Firelands Counseling and Recovery.
The training shows officers how to calm down a crisis situation with different methods…which include loss of control, loss of hope, loss of perspective and loss of hope.
No new information in the Harley Dilly case, says Port Clinton Police Chief Rob Hickman.
The 14-year-old was last seen on December 20th.
Hickman reiterated that Dilly’s family have fully cooperated with the investigation and have no reason to believe they’re involved…this after meeting with Dilly’s family on Tuesday.
Hickman, through social media, said his department met with Dilly’s family on Tuesday morning; whom say they are very appreciative of everyone’s thoughts and prayers involving Harley.
U.S. Congressman Jim Jordan is scheduled to make a trip to Huron County on Friday.
The Norwalk Reflector reports that the Republican will be touring the new medical unit at Abigail Pregnancy Services on Laylin Road in Norwalk at 2:15 pm.
The facility is in Jordan’s 4th district.
Next week, the Educational Service Center of Lorain County will host a Job Fair for potential substitute teachers.
At least half-a-dozen Lorain County school systems will be represented.
Applicants must have a bachelor’s degree…and the ability to pass a background check.
Wednesday’s Job Fair will run from 12:30 until 3:30 at the Educational Service Center on Lake Avenue in Elyria.
Work resumes next week on the Charles Berry Bascule Bridge in downtown Lorain.
Look for lane-closures from 10pm until 6am weeknights through January 24th.
The Ohio Department of Transportation expects the two-year project to wrap up in March.
