Tonight’s Keystone at Black River boys’ basketball game has been cancelled due to Wednesday’s fatal car crash involving a 2019 graduate of Black River High School.

The Highway Patrol says, Jacob Blakeslee of Sullivan died when a car he was driving, drifted left-of-center on Rout3 58 in Huntington Township and struck an SUV.

 

Police in Lorain are reviewing surveillance video…and…asking for your help, in tracking down suspects in five smash-and-grabs over the past week.

Several have involved businesses, others…parked vehicles.

In one case, 4 people drove a stolen pick-up truck into a store and tried to take an ATM, but failed.

 

A 21-year-old Sandusky man has been charged with felony domestic violence.

According to the Sandusky Register, Dominique Johnson reportedly admitted to police that he hit a woman in the face during an argument.

The charge was increased to a felony because of two prior domestic violence convictions.

 

Lorain’s next mayor…Jack Bradley…will take the oath of office on December 31st, and yesterday, announced appointments to key staff positions.

Max Upton will be Lorain’s Safety/Service Director.

He previously served as director of economic development for the group, MidTown Cleveland.

Melissa Kemp Barnhart will be mayor-elect Bradley’s Chief of Staff after holding a similar position with the Franklin County Recorder’s Office in Columbus.

 

The Huron County Engineer’s Office played host to a snow plowing and ice control seminar on Thursday. 

More than 60 people from 4 counties gathered at the Huron County Fairgrounds Expo Building representing county, city, village and township entities.

 

Hard work on the gridiron this past high school football season helped raise money for a good cause. 

A check for $1,000 was presented from Jamie’s Carpet Shop to Stein Hospice at the K96-WLKR Studios in Milan on Thursday.

Jamie’s Carpet Shop donated $10 to Stein Hospice for each touchdown scored in K96 broadcasts of high school football 

The total this season was $780…but Jamie’s Carpet Shop chipped in a bit more to make an even thousand bucks.

 

Victory Kitchen in Sandusky is now accepting donations for their 28th annual ‘Shoebox Christmas’ giveaway.

You can contribute a toy or other item, make a cash donation or put together a shoebox for local children 12 years-old or younger; which will be distributed to families on Christmas Eve.
