A Norwalk man faces charges for two alleged breaking-and-entering incidents in Erie County.

According to the Sandusky Register, 30-year-old William Harmeling was discovered on Route 101; covered in dirt.

Harmeling is believed by authorities to have recently broken into a Strecker Road business and attempted to bust into a resident’s barn on Homegardner Road.

 

A Florida man faces multiple charges after authorities say he led them on a pursuit on the Ohio Turnpike Saturday night in Erie County.

According to the State Highway Patrol, it all started when they tried to initiate a traffic stop of a vehicle reportedly involved in a hit-skip crash.

Patrol troopers say the car driven by suspect, Jacoby Smart, led them on a pursuit in Oxford Township where Smart’s vehicle struck the back of a commercial vehicle, went through a fence…and ended after a brief foot chase.

Smart was treated for non-serious injuries.

 

After failing by about 200 votes earlier this month, the Norwalk Parks and Rec property tax levy will be back on the ballot in March of 2020.

The five year, 1.75-mill levy, merges three existing levies into one. 

Parks and Rec Superintendent Joe Lindenberger tells the Norwalk Reflector that the ballot language was confusing and will be fixed by city council.

 

Norwalk St. Paul senior Cam Caizzo has been named a 2019 National Heisman High School Scholarship State Winner. 

Caizzo receives a $500 scholarship and is in the running for the chance to be awarded a $1,000 or $5,000 scholarship along with a trip to New York City for the Heisman Trophy ceremony. 

He was selected from an applicant pool of thousands of high school scholar-athletes.

 

The Ohio Parks and Recreation Association has named one of Sandusky Recreation Department’s programs as its ‘Best of 2019’.

The Midtown Supper Club won in the ‘recreation program’ category in the state’s recent ‘Awards of Excellence’.

The program, in its inaugural year, introduces youth to the culinary arts while utilizing local chefs; and culminates with a four-course dinner and entertainment.
