A Plymouth man was killed Thursday morning in a two-vehicle crash involving a motorcycle.

Larry Vredenburgh was 81. 

The State Highway Patrol says Vredenburgh was hit by a car on Route 61 in Shelby that traveled left of center and struck his motorcycle. 

The driver of the car, 51-year-old Kevin Kitzmiller, was not injured. 

 

A Shelby man, formerly a Boy Scout staff member, has pled guilty to child pornography and sexual exploitation of children.

According to the Sandusky Register, 39-year-old Thomas Close is expected to spend between 27 and 33 years in prison…after reportedly admitting to taking inappropriate photos of children at the Sandusky YMCA over the last 8 years.

 

A well-known TV weatherman in Columbus was arrested at his home Thursday on child pornography charges.

10-TV Chief Meteorologist Mike Davis is accused of sending and receiving images…with authorities seizing Davis’ electronic devices at his home and the WBNS studios.

Davis has been with 10-TV for over 30 years.

He’s scheduled to be arraigned today in Franklin County. 

 

The U-S Marshall’s Office has nabbed a man from Lorain who had been their “Fugitive of the Week”.

22-year-old Malik Rembert was found in a home on Cleveland’s west side.

Rembert was wanted in Lorain…accused of shooting bullets into a house…and in Elyria…accused of striking a bicyclist with a car when he tried to avoid arrest.

 

A memorial service will be held Monday in Ontario Ohio, near Mansfield, for Bill Hatheway…

Bill was a former sales manager here at WEOL…he was also an accomplished musician…performing with bands such as Just Friends, Back on Earth, and the Ohio Express.

Hatheway was 70 years old.

 

An Erie County wildlife refuge helped rescue a bald eagle and then return it back to its natural habitat yesterday.

Back to The Wild’ in Castalia says the eagle was first found a couple of days ago after almost drowning; but was then saved…with some help from wildlife workers and the Bayview Police Department.  

The eagle sustained no serious injuries.

 

The war of words continues in the Lorain School System between CEO David Hardy Junior and the school board.

Yesterday, Hardy issued a letter, saying, the school board canceled a 9am mediation meeting involving a lawsuit involving the status of Treasurer Josh Hill.

School Board President Mark Ballard tells the Chronicle Telegram, the board did not agree to today’s session.

More than 500 classic cars are expected to be on display during this weekend’s 28th annual Cruisin by the Bay in downtown Sandusky. 

The event runs today and Saturday…with a portion of the proceeds to help support the North Coast Cancer Patient Services Fund.
