The Norwalk Post of the State Highway Patrol is investigating a two-vehicle fatal crash that occurred Tuesday afternoon in Huron County.

Authorities say 53-year-old Liane Field of Greenwich drove left of center on State Route 60 in Clarksfield Township…and struck another vehicle head-on. 

Field was killed…with two passengers sustaining serious injuries, 50-year-old Mark Howell and a two-year-old child; both flown to MetroHealth in Cleveland.

The other vehicle’s occupants, 74-year-old Michael and 72-year-old Patricia Abfall of New London received non-serious injuries.

 

A storm roared through Sandusky County yesterday…causing power outages in Clyde.

Police say a substation there was hit directly by lightening.

 

A woman from Vermilion was taken to jail Saturday night after allegedly punching a restaurant worker and kicking a police officer.

According to the Sandusky Register, police arrived at a restaurant on Liberty Avenue after receiving a call about an intoxicated woman.

Police say they tried to give 41-year-old Julia Fein a ride home.

Fein was charged with assault and assaulting a police officer.

 

The Ohio Department of Transportation has announced a road closure for next week in Huron County.

Starting Monday, State Route 99 between Egypt Road and Townline Road 12 West will shut down for culvert repairs.

It’s scheduled to reopen the following Friday…August 30th.

Detours are planned.

 

An unused water tower was taken down yesterday in Erie County.

It was located on Harris Road in Oxford Township…it hadn’t been filled with water for the last 12 years or so.

 

Today, school officials in Elyria will host their final open house for investors and developers, who might be interested in buying a closed school building.

Tours will be held at the former Franklin Elementary School from 5 to 7pm.
