He is described as a ‘person of interest’ in a fatal shooting early Sunday in Lorain…and yesterday…29 year old Tramaine White made his first appearance in court…

White has initially been charged with felonious assault…with more charges expected at the county level.

Witnesses say, 16-year-old Kevin Price was shot and killed as a birthday party was winding down on Vine Avenue.

 

A Huron boy faces criminal charges after allegedly sending an unwanted obscene photo and video to two female classmates earlier this year.

According to the Sandusky Register, the boy is also being investigated by authorities and Huron school officials for a second incident where he allegedly attempted to sexually assault one of the two girls.

 

Erie County Sheriff Paul Sigsworth and Deputies have been recognized by the state for their heroic actions.

They’ve received the Buckeye State Sherriff’s Association Life Saving Award.

In two separate incidents, they performed CPR on people until paramedics arrived.

 

A former firefighter has been honored by Huron County officials. 

The Norwalk Reflector reports that the death of Townsend Township Fire Captain Charles Horning has recently been deemed job-related.

Horning passed away from a heart attack in October 2015.

A commemorative service was held this past weekend at the Fallen Firefighter Memorial in Norwalk on Shady Lane Drive; where Horning’s name was added to five others who perished in the line of duty.

 

The Ohio Department of Health is urging people to take precautions, to prevent mosquito bites and the diseases they might carry.

The most common diseases spread by mosquitoes in Ohio include West Nile virus and La Crosse virus.

Last year in Ohio, there were 65 West Nile virus cases, including six deaths, and 39 La Crosse.

 

The state of Ohio is launching a pilot program in central Ohio, with the goal of reducing the time people spend in line at the Bureau of Motor Vehicles.

The program is called, “Get in Line, Online”, and allows people to check in online, go to the BMV and check in at a self-service kiosk, then claim their spot in line.

 

Thursday, the Ohio Special Olympics Torch will begin its trek through more than 130 communities, on its way to Columbus for the State Summer Games that open June 28th.

All facets of law enforcement will walk, run or bicycle to raise awareness and money, for the Special Olympics.

 

A new eatery opened its doors yesterday on a busy Milan Road in the Sandusky-area.

Culver’s – known for their butter-burgers and frozen custard – opened up in Perkins Township; next to the Mickey Mart and across the street from Meijer.

Groundbreaking for the restaurant was held back in January.
