Richland County/Shelby girl dies in bicycle/car crash

A 12-year-old girl from Shelby died Sunday in a crash involving a bicycle and automobile in Richland County.

The Highway Patrol says the girl on her bike failed to stop at a stop sign at Dininger Road and was struck by a Jeep on State Route 61 driven by 61-year-old Kimberly Davis of Willard.

 

Richland County/Shiloh man dies in motorcycle crash

The State Highway Patrol is investigating a motorcycle crash in Richland County Saturday that resulted in the death of a 59-year-old man from Shiloh.

Authorities say Casey Yost was driving north of Mansfield; turning left onto Eby Road from Franklin Church Road, when he went off the roadway and hit a tree.

It’s unknown if alcohol or drugs played a factor in the crash.

 

State News/Earthquake in Eastlake

A magnitude 4 earthquake was felt Monday morning near Eastlake, in northeast Ohio.

No injuries or damage were reported from the tremors that began around 10:50-am; which shook ODOT traffic cams near Cleveland.

 

Lorain County/Shed salesman indicted

A Stark County man who allegedly stole thousands of dollars from Lorain County residents while selling sheds in Elyria has been indicted.

26-year-old Logan Forrer faces racketeering charges after it’s believed he took money from victims for sheds he never delivered.

According to Old Hickory Buildings, who employed Forrer, they never received any money from him either.

 

Milan/Chautauqua returns today

The five-day living-history event, Ohio Chautauqua, returns today to Milan…making its’ second appearance there in three years.

It will feature music, education and audience participation.

Actor portrayals will include Julia Child, Cesar Chavez and Robert F. Kennedy…with live performances in Milan Public Square.

 

Erie-Lorain County/Vermilion woman on Ramsey radio show

Today is the big day for a Vermilion Resident…

Today they are scheduled to mark the occasion on Ramsey’s popular radio Show; which airs weekdays from 9:00 am to 12 noon on sister-station WEOL.

 

Erie-Lorain County/Coach Matthews retiring

A longtime local high school coach is calling it a career…

Softball Coach Bill Matthews has announced he’s stepping down after his retirement from teaching last week.

Matthews has been coaching for 33 years.

He spent 29 years with Amherst and three at Vermilion.

 

Erie County/‘Movies by the Bay’ delayed until tonight

Last night’s planned kickoff to ‘Movies by the Bay’ in Sandusky was postponed.

It will now go on tonight with the free showing of Spider Man into the Spider-Verse at dusk at the Paper District Marina on West Shoreline Drive.

Erie MetroParks will also be there prior to the movie with a spider showcase.
