Erie County/Bridge improvements
Erie County says their near-140 bridges remain in strong condition…in information from their 2018 annual report.
Some of those structures still need some work though, as over $6 million in public money has been put back for bridge work in the county’s five-year forecast; according to the Sandusky Register.
It includes the three worst bridges in terms of grade….those on Camp Road in Huron Township, Haber Road in Vermilion Township and Michigan Avenue in Perkins Township.
Huron County/EMA holding mass fatality disaster speaker
The Huron County Emergency Management Agency is hosting a speaker tonight on the topic of mass fatality disasters.
The guest…Mike Gedert of the Ohio Funeral Directors Association from Cincinnati.
It takes place at 7:00 pm the Huron County EMA Office in Norwalk.
Lorain County/Cybercrime arrest
A resident of Lorain is due in Avon Lake Municipal Court next week…charged with telecommunications fraud.
28-year-old Austin Keaton was arrested Tuesday by police and the FBI, after he drove from Elyria into North Ridgeville.
Police in Avon say, Keaton’s arrest was part of an ongoing investigation, with help from the FBI’s cybercrime unit.
State News/Brown’s “tour” continues
U-S Senator Sherrod Brown of Ohio will test the presidential waters again tomorrow, when he takes his “Dignity to Work” tour to South Carolina.
So far, the senator has quasi-campaigned in Iowa, New Hampshire, Nevada…and now…South Carolina…all keys states in getting a ‘jump-start’ to a Presidential run.
Erie County/“Coffee with a Cop” on Saturday
You can have “Coffee with a Cop” Saturday morning in Berlin Heights.
Erie County Sheriff Paul Sigsworth, Lieutenant Brett Gockstetter of the Sandusky Post of the State Highway Patrol and Berlin Heights Police Chief Charity Schaefer will talk with area residents at the Main Street Café from 8 to 9:30 am.
Huron County/New London wireless network
City council in New London this week heard discussion on the possibility of a wireless mesh network.
According to the Norwalk Reflector, New London Schools Superintendent Brad Romano proposed the network…saying it would cost around $40,000…and be intended for those visiting Recreation Park and businesses in the downtown area.
Romano said the school would supply the bandwidth.
Erie County/Sandusky Children’s Museum fundraiser
“For the Love of Art”…the name of tonight’s free community event and fundraiser for the Sandusky Children’s Museum.
It features live music, food from local restaurants, silent auctions and “make and take” art.
It runs tonight from 6:00 to 10:00 pm at The Loft on East Market Street.
