Sandusky County/Daniel Myers pleads guilty to Bogle murder, gets life

The murder suspect in the 2015 death of 28 year-old Heather Bogle changed his plea to guilty Wednesday in a Sandusky County courtroom.

According to multiple media outlets, Daniel Myers was then sentenced to life in prison without parole, not receiving the death penalty as the result of a plea deal.

Bogle was found shot and beaten in the trunk of a car.

Myers was a co-worker of Bogle’s in Clyde.

 

State News/Latest on OSU-Mansfield abduction incident

Officials from the Kentucky State Police shed more light on the incident Monday that began with an alleged abduction of an OSU-Mansfield student and the death of both her and the male suspect.

Both Ty’rell Pounds Skyler Williams died after a police officer-involved shooting and pursuit.

During a press conference yesterday, the Kentucky State Police said that Pounds was killed by multiple shots fired by a state trooper, while Williams perished due to a bullet from Pounds’ gun.

 

Ottawa County/Mayor of Put-in-Bay turns in resignation

Put-in-Bay mayor Bernard “Mac” McCann has resigned.

Several media outlets report that McCann called it quits in a letter to council Wednesday.

This comes after McCann was indicted on criminal corruption charges involving unlawful interest in a public contract following a raid last year by the state Attorney General’s Office.

In the letter, McCann proclaimed his innocence.

 

Erie County/New Superintendent at EHOVE

Chris McCully has been named the new superintendent at EHOVE Career Center.

He’ll be takeing over for Sharon Mastroianni, who’s retiring after 30-plus years.

McCully has been the Assistant Superintendent at Polaris Career Center since 2007.

 

Erie County/Vermilion Schools’ health center

The Erie County Health Department is coordinating efforts, to bring a health center to the Vermilion Schools’ campus.

It would offer primary care, dental, and mental health care for students and school employees.

 

Erie County/Free Sandusky Transit rides today

Sandusky Transit is showing their love for residents on this Valentine’s Day.

They say all rides on fixed routes are free today in honor of “Ohio Loves Transit Day”.

 

State News/Toledo Blade newspaper ending print editions on Monday/Tuesday

The Toledo Blade newspaper will soon stop publishing print editions on Monday and Tuesdays.

The changes begin February 25th.

Newspaper owners say they’ll be focusing on growing their digital news department.

 

State News/Google data center coming to Ohio

Google has announced plans to bring a $600 million data center to Ohio.

Media outlets around the state capital city report that the facility will be located in the Columbus suburb of New Albany.
