Sandusky County/Bogle murder suspect hospitalized
Last Wednesday, the Daniel Myers capital murder trial in Sandusky County was delayed for the third time.
A secret gag order on prosecutors and defense attorneys was also issued.
Myers, who’s accused of killing Clyde’s Heather Bogle in 2015, apparently was hospitalized.
Chief Deputy Ed Hastings confirmed to the Sandusky Register that Myers was taken to ProMedica Hospital in Fremont last Monday due to feeling “woozy and incoherent”.
Lorain County/Mental health program
Suicide, depression and mental health will be the focus of a program on Wednesday; and then again next month, at Keystone High School.
It’ll be presented by the Keystone Schools and the Lorain County Board of Mental Health.
The seminars follow the suicide of an 8th grader a week ago.
Wednesday’s program will begin at 6-p-m.
Lorain County/Storm cleanup
The clean-up continues today from Saturday’s storm that brought high winds and heavy rain.
Thousands of people in Lorain, Cuyahoga and Lake Counties lost electric service when trees and branches crashed down on power lines.

Erie County/Drug smuggling arrests
A man accused of smuggling drugs into the Erie County jail has been arrested.
Last November, 39-year-old William Peabody of Sandusky allegedly had accomplice Amie Martinez bring drugs into the jail using contact lens containers.
Martinez was previously arrested for the same charge.
Erie County/Tool thefts
A rash of burglaries involving high-price tools has been reported recently around Erie and Huron counties.
The Erie County Sheriff’s Office says the thefts have occurred in garages and barns; involving items such as air compressors, chainsaws and generators.
Locations of those thefts include Berlin Township, Milan Township and Monroeville.
There have been no suspects.
Huron County/Borgers likely adding 100 jobs to Norwalk
Approximately 100 full-time jobs are coming to Norwalk.
Borgers Ohio Inc. is closing its’ only other U.S. location in Alabama in 2019 and will begin their reduction of force in the near future.
Over 350 jobs will be impacted in Alabama.
The German-based automotive industry supplier has 23 locations in Europe and China; as well as their facility on Industrial Parkway in Norwalk.
Huron County/Norwalk names new safety-service director
Norwalk has a new safety-service director.
The city has named Ellen Heinz to the position; taking over for Dan Wendt, who resigned in August to take a city manager job in Fairfield.
Heinz has worked the last several years as executive director for the Norwalk Economic Development Corporation…as well as spending time as vice president of human resources with the New Horizons Baking Company.
Heinz, a Norwalk resident, will begin her new job early next month.
Area News/School bus safety week
Today begins National School Bus Safety Week.
According to the State Highway Patrol…from 2015 to 2017…nearly 4,200 Ohio drivers were convicted of failing to stop for a stopped school bus…with just over 4,000 traffic crashes involving school buses.
Huron county/New solar energy program
Firelands Electric Cooperative has launched a new community solar program for their customers.
“Our-Solar” gives residents the option to purchase renewable energy from the company’s new 152-panel solar array in New London.
The co-op serves Huron, Lorain, Ashland and Richland counties.
