Huron County/Theft suspects arrested

Police in Norwalk have arrested two teenage boys who have a history of thievery.

19 year-old Michail Harvey and 16 year-old Emmanuel Brown Junior are allegedly responsible for stealing a car, a firearm, multiple thefts from motor vehicles and breaking and entering at the East of Chicago Pizza restaurant.

 

Ottawa County/Snapchat rapist’s appeal denied

The appeal of a Danbury man sentenced to five years in prison for rape has been denied.

78 year-old James Allen claimed the court implied he could be released after only three years…due to showing early signs of Alzheimer’s disease that made him incapable of understanding his plea.

Allen’s charge is from an August 2017 incident that was recorded by a 20 year-old female victim on the social media app, Snap-chat.

 

Erie County/Cedar Point fined $142,000 by OSHA for workplace accident

OSHA has cited Cedar Point’s parent company, Cedar Fair, for safety violations after they say an employee suffered serious injuries at the amusement park.

The company faces penalties of over $140,000; if the violations hold up.

Inspectors determined that an injured employee fell through a skylight while working on a roof.

 

Erie County/Ohio State Highway Patrol State Route 4 OVI Checkpoint results

The Ohio State Highway Patrol say they arrested one driver for OVI and marijuana possession, two others for marijuana possession and made one felony warrant apprehension during a two-hour OVI checkpoint  in Erie County Saturday night.

764 cars passed through the checkpoint conducted on State Route 4 and Bone Creek Drive in Perkins Township.

 

Erie County/OVI charge for Norwalk woman

A Norwalk woman was charged Friday night with OVI and failure to stay in marked lanes.

According to the Erie County Sherriff, deputies saw 47 year-old Lori Jensen repeatedly drive over the yellow center line on U.S. 250 near Scheid Road.

 

Huron County/Section of Plymouth could join historic places registry

A portion of the Huron/Richland County village of Plymouth could join those named to the National Register of Historic Places.

A state advisory board has voted to recommend Plymouth’s historical district – including Dix, Mills, Railroad and Trux streets; along with eight other Ohio locations – to the list.

 

Vermilion/Historical markers for former amusement park

A 22-acre amusement park in Vermilion is long gone, but not forgotten.

This past weekend, historic markers were placed near the Crystal Shore Apartments, north of Liberty Avenue.

The site was once the home of Crystal Beach Park that featured a huge, wooden roller coaster.

It operated from 1907 to 1962.

 

Erie County/Intersection closing tomorrow in Huron

The intersection of U.S. 6 (Center Street) at Jim Campbell Boulevard in Huron will be closed for repairs tomorrow.

The closure is scheduled to last from 6:30 am to 5:00 pm…and is weather permitting.
