Huron County/Norwalk convicted arsonist going to prison
A Norwalk man has been sentenced to four years in prison after pleading guilty to aggravated arson and drug charges.
It all stems from an incident in April where 33-year-old John Marsillett was found on the roof of his Adams Street home where an air conditioner was on fire.
Marsillett threatened to kill himself as well as first responders before grabbing power lines and falling down into a driveway, where he was arrested.

Local authorities will be set up on U.S. 250 near Lais (“Lace”) Road from 9:00 to 11:00 pm as officers look to deter and intercept impaired drivers.
Sandusky County/Alleged Mexican gang member arrested
U.S. Border Patrol agents have arrested an alleged Mexican gang member who was in the country illegally.
The arrest followed a traffic stop by the Ohio State Highway Patrol in Fremont where 29-year-old Marcos Gutierrez-Sanchez was a passenger.
Gutierrez reportedly admitted to criminal gang activity; with records showing that he had been deported twice, in 2008 and 2012.
State News/Opening of marijuana dispensaries delayed
Medical marijuana dispensaries in Ohio, including those in Huron and Sandusky, were supposed to be opened by Saturday…but that will not happen.
The state has delayed the facilities from being fully-operational due to a range of reasons, which include legal disputes to other problems involving government regulations for the new industry.
Huron and Sandusky’s dispensaries are still in the pre-ground breaking phase.
There’s no timetable for the openings.
Erie County/Stolen car chase
Sandusky Police pursued a reported stolen car Thursday morning which took them on a high-speed chase.
Authorities followed the vehicle on East Perkins Avenue where three men eventually jumped out and ran down railroad tracks on Remington Avenue…getting away from law enforcement.
Erie County/Campbell Street intersection in Sandusky to receive more upgrades
More upgrades coming to a busy intersection in Sandusky…
City officials have approved a $170,000 work order to install new signals, traffic signs and the striping of the road where Campbell Street, Columbus Avenue and Scott Street meet near Mama’s Pizza.
The first phase of the improvements to the intersection took place earlier this year…featuring enhancements to the pavement, sidewalks and utilities.
Work should begin soon on Phase 2; and be finished by the middle of 2019.

The numbers are in, and they show, new vehicle sales here in Northern Ohio are running on-par with a year ago.
According to the Greater Cleveland Automobile Dealers Association, the volume-leader for August was Ford.
Lorain County/Movie partly filmed in Grafton opening next week
One week from today, a motion picture…filmed partially at a state prison in Grafton…will hit the silver screen.
“White Boy Rick” is based on the true story of the youngest informant to help the FBI.
The picture stars Matthew McConaughey who came to Grafton for his prison-scenes.
Huron County/Monroeville celebrates 150 years
In Huron County, the village of Monroeville is celebrating their 150th birthday this weekend.
Many sesquicentennial events are planned including a parade Saturday morning, a flea market, vintage women’s baseball and kids’ fun and games featuring ‘Touch-a-Truck’ activities.
