Huron County/Fourth victim testifies in Durst trial

Witnesses will continue to take the stand today in Huron County Common Pleas Court in the trial of a Sandusky man accused of multiple sexual assaults.

29 year-old McClain Durst faces charges of rape, unlawful sexual conduct with a minor and sexual battery.

A fourth victim and law enforcement witnesses testified on Friday.

 

Erie County/Sandusky drug raid

Drug enforcement agents and local authorities executed a search warrant at a Sandusky home on Friday.

According to law enforcement, the raid in the 600 block of Wayne Street was part of an ongoing drug trafficking investigation.

No arrests were made.

 

Lorain County/Elyria bank robbery

The man accused of robbing a bank in downtown Elyria Friday afternoon, is due in court.

30 year-old Jeremy Lease was arrested Friday night in Lorain.

Police say, Lease walked into Fifth Third Bank on Broad Street, handed a note to a teller, demanding cash and indicating he had a weapon.

 

Area News/Gas prices

Gas prices look to be increasing with the Labor Day weekend just around the corner.

Prices at the pump shot up 25 cents a-gallon this past weekend, after dropping back earlier in the week.

Those prices…now closing in on 3-dollars-a-gallon.

 

Erie-Huron County/Road construction

Road work updates…

In Erie County, ODOT says the State Route 2 eastbound ramp to State Route 101 will close on Wednesday for pavement repairs.  It will be closed Wednesday only.

In Huron County, State Route 269 from State Route 4 to U.S. 20 will have alternating single-lane closures as crews prepare for a resurfacing project.  Traffic will be maintained by flaggers. The project is expected to be complete by Friday, September 7th.

 

Erie County/Cedar Point buys more land

Cedar Point has acquired waterfront property near Sports Force Parks on Cleveland Road in Sandusky.

The cost of the 5-acre empty parcel was $3 million; located just northeast of their outdoor sports complex.

Cedar Point owns the land currently occupied by Sports Force Parks, as well as their forthcoming indoor sports facility, which will be just to the northwest.

No word yet on what the newly purchased land will specifically be used for.

 

Huron-Erie County/Shores & Islands names Milan man Sports Tourism Mgr.

The Lake Erie Shores and Islands tourism agency has named a Milan native to a newly-created administration position.

Weston Strayer, an Edison High School grad, has been given the title of Sports Tourism Manager.

He previously worked with Ohio State’s basketball team under former head coach Thad Matta.

 

Lorain County/Fair comes to a close

The curtain has come down on the 2018 Lorain County Fair…

Yesterday’s Demolition Derby capped off a week of entertainment.

More than 100-thousand people passed through the gates!
