Huron County/Willard man pleads guilty to same sex offense
A Willard man released from prison early last year after serving time for gross sexual imposition involving a 13 year-old girl…has pled guilty to the same charge from a different incident with a 12 year-old female family member.
44 year-old Joseph Claus will be sentenced in October.
Huron-Erie County/Armed robber sentenced
A Cleveland man accused of three armed robberies last year in Norwalk and Sandusky has been sentenced to 10 years in prison.
25 year-old Devante Price was a suspect in the robberies of Mama B’s Pizza in Sandusky and CVS stores in Sandusky and Norwalk.
Huron County/Six months in prison for Norwalk drug offender
A man from Norwalk has been sentenced to six months in prison for aggravated drug possession.
41 year-old Lance Signs was eligible for prison time after multiple felony convictions including breaking-and-entering, firearm theft, heroin trafficking and cocaine possession.
Erie County/Sandusky doctor’s office raided by FBI
Another day, another FBI raid of a medical facility in the area…
Agents raided a Sandusky doctor’s office on Wednesday, confiscating materials from Dr. Gregory Gerber, whose office is part of a business complex on Hayes Avenue.
Gerber allegedly overprescribed opioids to undercover investigators.
This comes just a day after a raid of a dental office in the Port Clinton-area, which included Medicaid-Fraud officials.
Erie County/Vermilion River spill
Clean-up continues from a fuel spill last weekend on the Vermilion River.
Erie County EMA officials say there was an underground leak in a gas line at Valley Harbor Marina in Vermilion.
River traffic is being maintained and there’s no danger to the public, said Mayor Jim Forthofer.
State News/More than $3 million in grants awarded for drug use prevention education
More than $3 million in grant money was awarded to a number of law enforcement agencies across the state for drug use prevention education programs in public schools.

Erie-Ottawa County/Local lawmakers join voting machine panel
Erie County Commissioner Matt Old and State Representative Steve Arndt of Port Clinton have been named to a panel aimed to provide certain counties with all-new voting machines.
It’s part of Senate Bill 135, which will provide over $100 million for the new machines, including those in Erie and Ottawa County.
The goal is to have them in place by the 2020 election.
Erie County/Crossroads homeless collection drive
The Crossroads homeless shelter in Sandusky will host their third annual “Roll Out the Help” toilet paper drive on Friday.
It’s in honor of National Toilet Paper Day.
Happening at the Kroger Marketplace from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm, the collection effort will look for donations of non-food/basic household necessities, baby care products and personal hygiene items.
Huron County/Norwalk’s Family Video store to close
The last remaining video rental store in Norwalk will close for good this Saturday.
Owners of the Family Video on Whittlesey Avenue say an increase in rent is the cause for the closure.
Family Video has been in Norwalk for seven years.
