Clyde/Man to jail for shooting incident
A Green Springs man is headed to prison for 6 years for reportedly firing a gun at a construction crew last October.
According to authorities, 65-year-old Michael Bogner used a handgun to shoot multiple rounds at a crew working on sewer and water lines…while at his East Adams Street home.
Bogner was charged with improperly discharging a firearm near a prohibited location and a weapons specification.
No one was hurt in the incident; but Clyde-Green Springs Schools were placed on lockdown.
Norwalk/Man arrested after allegedly fleeing from accident scene
A Norwalk man was arrested Sunday night after allegedly fleeing from an accident scene in Norwalk.
25-year-old Thomas Handy was charged with OVI, failure to control, hit-skip and obstructing official business.
Police say Handy sideswiped a parked vehicle on North Prospect Street and eventually went across League Street and hit a tree where he reportedly fled.
New London/Council news
News out of New London…
Council is still looking to fill the seat of Neil Winslow, who recently resigned.
Mayor John Martin says no one has yet to apply for the position.
Also, utility rates are going up in New London, effective May 1st.
Water rates are increasing around $2 to $3 with sewer charges going up by 3 percent.
Sandusky/No smoking in parks
Sandusky city commissioners have voted to enact a ban of all types of smoking in city-owned parks, pathways, piers and plazas.
A second vote, considered a formality for legal reasons, will likely take place at the next commissioners meeting on April 23rd at City Hall.
If all goes as planned, the ban would become a law on May 23rd, with those found in violation possibly facing a low-level misdemeanor.
Sandusky/Lt. Governor Taylor appearance
Two guest speakers are set to appear at the Erie County Republican Women’s Club meeting later this month.
The club will welcome in Ohio Lieutenant Governor Mary Taylor and state representative Keith Faber; who’s also a candidate for state auditor.
It takes place April 18th at the Sandusky Yacht Club.
Huron/State dog
After writing to state legislators, a Huron fourth-grader will testify today at the Ohio Statehouse in Columbus.
What for?
Brynne Hartley of Woodlands Intermediate School wants the state to consider making the Black Labrador the official state dog.
Vermilion/Allie LaForce
Vermilion’s Allie LaForce, a CBS and Turner Sports television reporter, will deliver the 2018 Spring Commencement speech at Ohio University in Athens next month.
LaForce graduated from Ohio-U in 2011 and also spent time at Fox 8 in Cleveland as a sports anchor and reporter.
The speech takes place Saturday, May 5th at O-U’s Convocation Center.
