Sandusky/Road closed due to downed power lines
In Sandusky, Old Railroad between West Strub Road and Perkins Avenue is closed now until further notice.
City officials report that downed electric lines and poles are laying across the roadway.
Sandusky/Woman faces OVI charges after car hit by train
A Sandusky woman was charged with OVI, leaving the scene of an accident and failure to control after her car reportedly was hit by a train while stuck on the tracks.
Authorities say that 27 year-old Destine Massey, who was unharmed, lost control of her vehicle and got stuck on the train tracks on Mills Street Sunday night.
She reportedly saw a train coming and fled the scene before the train hit her vehicle.
Ohio/Flu decreasing statewide, up in Erie County
Hospitalizations due to the flu have decreased in Ohio during the last two weeks.
In Erie County however, there were 12 flu-related hospital visits a week ago, increasing from the previous week, but still not as high as the 17 hospitalizations during the peak of the flu season in early January.
Norwalk/”State of the City” address tonight
Norwalk Mayor Rob Duncan is set to present the “State of the City” Address at tonight’s City Council meeting.
Council meets at 7:30 pm in the Norwalk Municipal Courtroom.
Sandusky County/One-time Trump accuser to run for local gov’t office
A woman who once accused President Trump of sexual harassment is getting national attention after deciding to run as state representative for Sandusky and Seneca counties.
35 year-old Rachel Crooks, a Clyde High School grad who lives in Tiffin, says the alleged incident took place in 2015 while she worked in Trump Tower in New York City.
If Crooks wins the Democratic nomination, she would take on current Representative Bill Reineke of Tiffin, a Republican.
Sandusky launching online bill paying system
Officials in Sandusky are hoping to soon bring an online bill payment system to residents.
The system, which workers hope is up and running by May, would allow customers to pay their sewer and water bills electronically on their computer or phone.
City officials believe they could save around $40,000 by implementing the system.
