Increased police presence at last night’s Bellevue middle school football game after online threat

School officials at Bellevue requested an increased police presence at their middle school football game last night due to an anonymous online threat.

Superintendent Kim Schubert said a middle school student received the threat Wednesday night through a social media app; and that it was specifically directed towards the middle school football game and cheerleaders there.

No incident was reported.  Authorities are investigating.

 

Narcan money running low in Erie County

Funding for the drug overdose antidote, Narcan, is set to run out soon in Erie County.

The Erie County Health Department was unable to renew a $100,000 federal grant used to buy Narcan for law enforcement.

The Erie County Health Department and the Mental Health and Recovery Board of Erie and Ottawa Counties are in discussions to use their own money in 2018 if a grant is unable to be secured.

 

Mr. Hero restaurant in Sandusky robbed Thursday

The Mr. Hero restaurant on U.S. 250 near Meijer in Sandusky was robbed Thursday afternoon.

According to police, the male suspect demanded money from an employee while allegedly showing the employee a gun that was tucked in his waistband.

The suspect reportedly fled the scene in a black car with a female driver.

Authorities say a similar robbery took place in Lorain on Wednesday with the suspect there having a comparable description.

 

Outgoing Cedar Fair CEO working on bringing BGSU program to Sandusky

The outgoing CEO of Cedar Fair says he’s working with Bowling Green State University on bringing a new attraction and resort management program to Sandusky.

Matt Ouimet will be leaving his CEO position at the end of the year; but will stay on as executive chairman of the board of directors.

More details on the college program to come soon.

 

Perkins Township hosting community clean-up event

A community clean-up event is scheduled for Saturday in Perkins Township.

From 9:00 am to 12 noon at the Erie County Fairgrounds, residents can drop off unwanted household items, appliances, furniture and much more.

Yard waste can also be taken to Barnes Nursery on Camp Road.

The event is for Perkins Township residents only, so bring proper photo identification.

 

Paranormal investigation going on at Mad River Museum this weekend

The Mad River and NKP Railroad Museum in Bellevue are hosting a paranormal investigation this weekend.

For the sixth straight year, The Ohio Researchers of Banded Spirits will be on hand for the fundraising event.

It starts Saturday evening at 7:00 pm and continues into the wee hours of Sunday morning.

Tickets are $25.
